Destiny 2: Monument to Lost Lights Exotic Tier List
Bungie removed entire planets, quests, and activities and stuffed them into the Destiny Content Vault: their polite term for a dumpster. Every exotic weapon tied to those vaulted quests vanished with them. The Monument to Lost Lights is Bungie’s conscience-saving solution: a kiosk in the Tower where you can rebuy what they took from you, at premium prices, using currency that barely trickles in.
Located between the two Vault terminals in the Tower Courtyard, this vendor sells dozens of legacy exotics and some sunset pinnacle weapons. Most purchases require Glimmer, an Exotic Cipher, planetary materials, and an Ascendant Shard. Raid exotics demand Spoils of Conquest on top of that. The kiosk does not apologize.
Location: Tower Courtyard: between the two Vault kiosks. Hard to miss. Even harder to afford.

Costs at a Glance
The Exotic Cipher is the chokepoint. You can hold exactly one at a time. You earn it weekly from Xur’s Xenology quest or through the Season Pass. Spend it wrong and enjoy your week of regret.
| Category | Glimmer | Cipher | Materials | Extras |
| Year 1–3 Exotics | 125,000 | 1 Cipher | 200 Planetary | 1 Ascendant Shard |
| Year 4–5 Exotics | 100,000 | 1 Cipher | 150–200 | 1 Ascendant Shard |
| Raid Exotics | 150,000 | 1 Cipher | 240 | + 240 Spoils of Conquest |
| Ager’s Scepter | 125,000 | 1 Cipher | 200 | 1 Ascendant Shard |
Spoils of Conquest are raid-exclusive. If you can’t raid, certain raid exotics Destiny 2 locked behind them remain fantasy. Accept it.
Full Tier List: Ranked Honestly
Rankings reflect endgame PvE viability as the primary metric, with PvP noted where relevant. Nostalgia is not a tier.
| Tier | Weapon | Type | Why |
| S | Witherhoard | GL / Kinetic | Plants blight, deals DoT, frees your heavy slot. Best in class since Season of Arrivals. Still. |
| S | Vex Mythoclast | Fusion / Kinetic | Vault of Glass drop. Catalyzed, it becomes a primary slot weapon that murders. Requires raiding. |
| S | Anarchy | GL / Heavy | Arc chains, sticks to surfaces, lets you DPS hands-free. Nerfed, buffed, still dangerous. |
| S | Izanagi’s Burden | Sniper / Kinetic | Honed Edge delivers burst boss damage no other sniper touches. Catalyst mandatory. |
| A | Leviathan’s Breath | Bow / Heavy | Only heavy bow. Volatile debuff. Stuns Unstoppable Champions. Catalyzed it actually keeps up with modern DPS. |
| A | Sleeper Simulant | LFR / Heavy | Laser overpenetrates, bounces. Solid sustained boss damage. Consistent pick when rockets bore you. |
| A | Tarrabah | SMG / Energy | Ravenous Beast charges off damage dealt. When it pops, you delete things. Requires Spoils. |
| A | Ticuu’s Divination | Bow / Energy | Sacred Flame + hip-fire ignites stacks. Exceptional ad-clear, decent boss chip. |
| A | Ace of Spades | HC / Kinetic | Memento Mori on kill. Best PvP hand cannon in the kiosk. Still respectable in PvE. |
| B | Duality | Shotgun / Energy | Two firing modes: pellets or precision slug. Versatile, underrated, fun. |
| B | Outbreak Perfected | Pulse / Kinetic | SIVA nanites swarm on precision kills. Damage ramps up. Catalyst makes it actually good. |
| B | Polaris Lance | Scout / Energy | Four precise hits make the fifth a solar explosion. Decent add-clear reach. |
| B | Thorn | HC / Kinetic | Mark of the Devourer poisons. Iconic PvP annoyance. Less relevant now but still bites. |
| B | Ager’s Scepter | Trace / Stasis | Stasis trace rifle. Good niche. Catalyst lets it drain your super for a damage boost. |
| C | Lumina | HC / Kinetic | Heals allies. Noble. Functionally irrelevant unless you’re doing a charity run. |
| C | Cryosthesia 77K | Sidearm / Energy | Stasis sidearm with a charged shot. The concept is neat. The reality is average. |
| C | Lorentz Driver | LFR / Energy | Marks targets, collects telemetries. Gimmicky. Better LFRs exist. |
| D | Legend of Acrius | Shotgun / Heavy | Arc blasts, overpenetrates. Was cool in Year 1. Now it’s furniture. |
| D | The Manticore | SMG / Energy | Goes airborne when you fire it. A creative solution to a problem no one had. |
What to Buy First: A Grudging Prioritization
You have one Exotic Cipher per week. Possibly. Xur doesn’t always feel like showing up punctually, and the Xenology quest demands playlist activity completions like it’s your second job. Plan accordingly.
New Players
Buy Witherhoard immediately. It does passive damage to whatever you’re not looking at, freeing you to be bad elsewhere with more dignity. It works in every activity, every difficulty tier, against every enemy type. Nothing in the kiosk comes close to this level of universal utility for the price.
PvP Focus
The best exotic weapons PvP picks from this kiosk are Ace of Spades (reliable, fast TTK, post-kill damage bonus) and Thorn (poison lingers, punishes opposing healing, infuriates enemies). Both are hand cannons because this game rewards hand cannon players above all others. This is not an opinion, it is a mathematical reality.
Endgame PvE / Raids
If you raid, target Anarchy first for its passive DPS uptime, then Izanagi’s Burden for burst damage windows. Vex Mythoclast requires a Vault of Glass clear but becomes one of the most rewarding Destiny 2 endgame weapons in the game once catalyzed. Leviathan’s Breath earns its slot in Grandmaster Nightfalls specifically for Unstoppable Champion stunning.
Support / Weirdos
Lumina heals allies. In a game with Warlocks, Well of Radiance, and Strand tethers, the demand for a healing hand cannon is approximately zero. Buy it if you enjoy explaining your loadout choices more than winning.
How to Farm the Materials
- Exotic Cipher: Xur’s weekly Xenology quest (playlist activities). One per week maximum. One held at a time. Don’t sit on it.
- Ascendant Shards: Master Nightfalls, Season Pass, or purchase from Banshee-44 and Ada-1 for Legendary Shards. Expensive either way.
- Spoils of Conquest: Raid-only. No shortcuts. No exceptions. If you don’t raid, certain weapons do not exist for you.
- Glimmer: Everything drops glimmer. Run a few Strikes or Patrols if you’re broke somehow. You shouldn’t be, but here we are.
- Planetary Materials (Baryon Boughs, Dusklight Shards, etc.): Patrol the relevant destination, buy from vendors, or harvest nodes. Boring but fast.
Hard limit: One Exotic Cipher stored at a time. If you complete Xenology while holding one, the quest completes but the cipher disappears into the void. Bungie is aware of your pain and considers it a feature.
Raid Exotics: The Tax on Not Casually Playing
A subset of legacy exotic weapons in the kiosk came from now-vaulted raids. They cost Spoils of Conquest on top of everything else: a currency earned exclusively by completing raid encounters. The relevant weapons are:
- Anarchy: Scourge of the Past. S-tier grenade launcher. Worth raiding for.
- Tarrabah: Crown of Sorrow. A-tier SMG with a beast mode. Requires commitment.
- Legend of Acrius: Leviathan. D-tier shotgun. The prestige here is purely sentimental.
The current active raids also drop Spoils. Farm them there if you’re not already. Nobody cares about your schedule.
Is the Exotic Kiosk Worth It
The exotic kiosk Destiny 2 is worth it for roughly eight weapons out of the full catalog. The rest exist as a testament to Bungie’s optimism. The kiosk is not a hall of champions: it’s a hall of “remember when this was good?” For those eight weapons, yes, drain your Ciphers without hesitation. For everything else, consider whether you’re buying power or purchasing a memory.
Underrated Picks Worth a Second Look
Among Monument to Lost Lights weapons, Ticuu’s Divination gets slept on. Its intrinsic perk creates Solar ignitions on stacked targets with a hip-fire follow-up: which means strong add-clear in a solar damage rotation without touching your heavy slot. Duality is similarly undervalued: a shotgun with two firing modes that rewards precision in a way most exotics don’t bother attempting. Neither will top a damage chart, but both are more interesting than half the S-tiers when you’re tired of watching Witherhoard pools form.
Catalysts: You’re Not Finished Paying
None of the kiosk weapons come with their catalyst. Every catalyst has its own source: Nightfalls, playlist activities, raids, specific missions. Some are trivial. Some require a Grandmaster clear. Witherhoard’s catalyst adds Auto-Loading Holster, which transforms it from great to essential. Izanagi’s catalyst increases Honed Edge damage significantly. Leviathan’s Breath catalyst expands the quiver and adds a second perk. Always check the exotic weapon catalyst source before committing a Cipher. The weapon you buy is the weapon’s rough draft.
What is the best exotic to buy first from Monument to Lost Lights?
Witherhoard. Passive DoT damage, kinetic slot, works in everything. No argument.
How do I get an Exotic Cipher for the Monument to Lost Lights?
Complete Xur’s weekly Xenology quest or unlock it via Season Pass. One cipher maximum held.
Can I get raid exotics like Anarchy without raiding?
No. Spoils of Conquest require raid completions. The kiosk lists the price; raids are the gate.
Do Monument to Lost Lights weapons come with their catalysts?
No. Each catalyst has a separate source: Nightfalls, missions, or raids. Budget time accordingly.
Is Vex Mythoclast available at Monument to Lost Lights?
Yes, but it requires a Vault of Glass clear and Spoils. It’s not a casual purchase.
