PoE2 Ritual Farming Guide
GGG reworked Ritual almost entirely. The PoE2 ritual farming guide you bookmarked from three months ago is dead. Here is what matters now: the reward pool was stripped to Uniques and Omens exclusively. No more vendor trash diluting your rolls. Every tribute you spend is aimed at something worth real currency. The side effect is that a well-configured ritual chain is obscenely profitable at league start: T0 Uniques included. Mageblood being the one exception, as usual, because of course it is.
Tribute does NOT carry over between maps. Spend it all, every single time. Deferring an item costs less tribute each map it returns: use it on anything you can’t afford yet.
Step 1: Getting Started
The ritual atlas passive tree cluster sits on the left side of the tree from the Arbiter’s fortress. Get there first. Close maps in that region while doing the main quest: you’ll accumulate passive points fast enough that you’ll have real decisions to make before you know it.
Passive Priority Order
- Nodes increasing tribute quantity per kill: the multiplier on everything else.
- Nodes increasing Omen drop chance: multiplicative across every map in a tower’s radius.
- Free reroll node (20% chance): pairs absurdly well with the double-roll tablet later.
- Increased favor amount nodes.
- Area level increase for more valuable Omens in the reward pool.
Do not touch the raw currency branch of the tree. Gear rewards: Uniques, Omens: are worth ten times more. Allocating into currency nodes is how you tell GGG you enjoy being poor.
Step 2: Precursor Tablet Progression
Tablets are socketed into completed Lost Towers and extend modifiers to surrounding maps. The precursor tablet ritual strategy scales in three phases. Start with one, end with four.
| Phase | Tablets | What It Does | When to Use |
| 1 | 1: Tribute Quantity | More tribute per kill. Foundation of everything. | Immediately at league start |
| 2 | + Unique Tablet (doubles reroll count) | Massively more reward pages seen per map. Pairs with free-reroll passive. | After core passives are set |
| 3 | + Area Level Tablet | Higher-tier Omens appear in the reward pool more frequently. | Once central Atlas passives are mostly done |
| 4 | + Second Tribute Quantity | Maximum tribute income. Only accessible in City biomes. | After unlocking City biome passive slot |
The most effective affix to roll on any ritual precursor tablet optimization setup: % increased chance to include Omen. Stack it across multiple towers. The stat you are looking for on the tribute tablet is the “increased attribute quantity” line. That one line carries the build.
Step 3: Head of the King & The Astrolabe Chain
This is the actual engine. The Astrolabe mechanic returns from PoE1 and it is just as broken as you remember, except now it works in endgame maps instead of maps you care about losing.
After killing the ritual zone’s main boss, Head of the King drops. If you do not have one yet: check trade, it runs around 83 Exalted Orbs with occasional 2–3x spikes in price during league weekend. Buy it. Bring it to the Astrolabe location and use it on the effigy. The game will ask you to select maps for ritual chain: choose six.
What the Chain Does
- Activates a sequence of maps with escalating ritual buffs.
- Each completed map pulls that map’s bosses into your ritual circle.
- By the final map, you are fighting a compacted nightmare of stacked bosses, Wisp-buffed, possibly Essence-buffed, definitely angry.
- Reward output: staggering amounts of tribute, T0 Uniques as bounty, up to 5 Divines per single item slot, and heavy Atlas passive synergy.
The final encounter in a full chain is violent. This is not a warning for weak builds: it is a hard requirement. If your character cannot handle bosses under multiple layered buffs simultaneously, the chain will end your session in a way that is not fun to watch back on stream.
Step 4: City Biomes & Four-Tablet Juicing
Once the main Atlas is complete and you are finding City biomes, the city biome atlas farming setup unlocks the final multiplier. Cities grant an additional tablet slot through a dedicated passive node: meaning you run four tablets at once instead of three. The fourth slot goes to another tribute quantity tablet.
This is the endgame loop in its final form. The boss density inside a fully-juiced city chain is unreasonable by design. Visps, Essence mods, stacked ritual bosses. Build accordingly or do not build at all.
Tribute Management
The tribute spend defer strategy is simple but constantly mishandled. Keep at minimum 1,000 tribute after your final reroll: this ensures you can defer expensive items even when your tribute pool is mostly spent. Deferred items return at a lower tribute cost next ritual. Defer T0 Uniques you cannot afford, claim them later. Tribute resets per map. Zero waste tolerance.
| Item Type | Action | Notes |
| T0 Unique you can’t afford | Defer | Returns cheaper next time |
| Valuable Omen | Buy immediately | Prices are fixed; no benefit to waiting |
| An Audience with the King | Buy or defer | Entry cost to King fight; keep at least one |
| Raw Divine Orbs | Buy always | Floor is high, ceiling is higher. Take them. |
| Junk rares, low-tier currency | Ignore | Your tribute is worth more than that. |
The King in the Mists: Quick Notes
Each kill awards two Atlas Passive Points specific to Ritual. Kill him four times total for the full eight points. Allocate your unspent points before each kill: if you have unspent points when you trigger the next difficulty, you lose them. This is the game’s way of penalizing the inattentive.
The King of the Mists boss mechanics run on simple rules that punish you for ignoring them:
- Ritual of Meditation: Stop moving. Moving too long stuns you. Standing still during this phase is not cowardice, it is the correct play.
- Ritual of Dance: Keep moving. The opposite of the above. Yes, the game will ask you to do both.
- Higher difficulty tiers drop exclusive Uniques. Lower tiers do not. The entry cost is An Audience with the King: bought from ritual shops or trade.
Recommended Atlas Passives at a Glance
The PoE2 endgame atlas passive build for ritual does not need to be complicated. These are the nodes that matter:
| Node Type | Priority | Why |
| Tribute per kill | Highest | Base multiplier for all income |
| Free reroll (20%) | High | Multiplied by double-roll tablet |
| Omen drop chance | High | Affects entire tower radius |
| Pack size (Expanding Hordes, Bountiful Bloodlines) | Medium | More monsters = more tribute = more rolls |
| Precursor Tablet bonus nodes | Medium | Multiplies tablet investment |
| Raw currency nodes | Skip | Inferior to Unique/Omen route in every scenario |
Comparing Ritual to Other Mechanics
Ritual is not the most consistent mechanic in the game: Breach holds that title. What ritual vs breach currency comparison reveals is that Ritual has a much higher ceiling at league start, because T0 Unique density in the reward pool is absurd while demand is still high. By mid-league, Breach pulls ahead on raw hourly currency. Run Ritual 80% of the time at launch. Dip into Expedition or Breach when reward pages slow down.
Where exactly is the Ritual Atlas region?
Left side of the Atlas tree from the Arbiter’s fortress. Start there, close maps in that region first.
Is Head of the King worth buying if it’s expensive?
At 83 Exalts, yes: the chain it enables pays for itself in a single good session.
Does tribute carry over between maps?
No. It resets every map. Spend everything. Defer what you cannot buy. Leave nothing.
Can a mediocre build run the full Astrolabe chain?
No. The final boss wave under full juicing is lethal. Build for it or skip the chain.
What’s the single biggest mistake players make in Ritual?
Allocating Atlas points into raw currency nodes instead of Omen and Unique reward paths.
