Predaxas World Boss Guide for WoW 12.1.5: Location, Loot, Strategy
The Predaxas world boss sits in the Gorging Pit in southern Voidstorm at /way 49.5 86.5, spawns in week four of the four-boss rotation right after Thorm’belan, and hands out one guaranteed Warbound piece per Warband per week. The current listing puts that piece at item level 246, which in 12.1.5 means Season 1 leftovers, so you kill Predaxas for transmog, Voidlight Marl and alts, not for your main.
This is an outdoor world boss, not a Lair: one difficulty, no instance, no Mythic version, so stop searching for one. The 12.1.5 patch notes never mention it, which makes it The Promise of Tomorrow world boss by attendance only, and everything below carries over from 12.1 unchanged.
Where It Spawns and Which Week It Is Up
Predaxas location: the Gorging Pit at the bottom of the Voidstorm map, south of the Howling Ridge. Voidstorm opens after the Eversong Woods, Zul’Aman and Harandar campaign chapters, and the loot requires level 90, so your fresh boost watches from the rim.
| Point | Waypoint | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Predaxas, Wowhead pin | /way #2405 49.5 86.5 | Center of the pit, default pin. |
| Predaxas, Icy Veins pin | /way #2405 49.0 86.4 | Same pit, different author, same hunger. |
| Den of Predaxas cave | /way #2405 48.9 78.3 | Entrance to the cave with the mount treasure. |
| Final Clutch of Predaxas | /way #2405 49.9 79.3 | Electrified egg room, abilities disabled inside. |
No addon for your Predaxas coordinates? Patch 12.1.5 finally adds player coordinates under the minimap, a feature that took Blizzard twenty-two years and one expansion about the Void.
The Midnight world boss rotation is fixed and weekly. One boss is active at a time, marked by a skull world quest on the map, and the order never changes.
- Lu’ashal takes week one in Eversong Woods.
- Cragpine takes week two in Zul’Aman.
- Thorm’belan takes week three in Harandar.
- Predaxas takes week four in Voidstorm, and then the cycle restarts.
Predaxas debuted the week of April 7. Counting four-week cycles from there, and assuming nothing slipped, its next window opens with the US reset on October 20, one week after 12.1.5 goes live and the same week Ascendant Venomstones unlock. EU gets it a day later, as usual. If the skull on your map disagrees with this arithmetic, the skull wins.
Every Ability, What It Targets and Its Timer
| Ability | Cast by | What it does | Who it hits | Timer |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Devour | Predaxas | Stomachs blitz to a marked spot and bite, each bite stuns for 3 sec. | Anyone within 9.5 yards of the marker. | Bites every 1.8 sec for up to 7 sec. |
| Regurgitation | Predaxas | Nature hit plus DoT, adds crawl out of the spray. | Frontal cone in the tank’s direction. | DoT ticks every 1 sec for 12 sec. |
| Seismic Slam | Predaxas | Several lurches with knockback, triggers every add reaction. | Everyone within 300 yards. | Multiple hits per cast. |
| Voidscatter | Radiating Voidtick | Cosmic hail on each Slam. | Players within 5 yards of each impact. | Once per Slam per live tick. |
| Toxin Splatter | Ingested Consumptor | Interruptible Nature AoE. | Everyone around the consumptor. | Every cast, so kick every cast. |
| Bilepool | Ingested Consumptor | Pool left on Slam, Nature damage and 20% slow. | Anyone standing in it. | Lasts 45 sec, ticks every 1 sec. |
| Bestial Rage | Enraged Bloodclaw | Damage done up 100%, flagged Magic and Enrage. | Whoever the bloodclaw is chewing. | Lasts 18 sec. |
| Blood Nova | Enraged Bloodclaw | Shadow hit plus DoT, damage taken up 3%, stacks. | Players near the bloodclaw on Slam. | 9 sec per stack. |
Blizzard publishes durations, not cast cooldowns, and nobody has posted a verified timeline for this fight. Run a boss mod for the bars and remember the only rule that matters: Regurgitation spawns adds, Seismic Slam detonates them, and the gap between the two is your entire job.
Full Kill Strategy for a Pug That Formed Five Minutes Ago
The whole Predaxas strategy fits on a napkin: kill the vomit before the slam. Every add alive when Seismic Slam lands turns into ground damage, a slow or a stacking debuff, and pugs love collecting all three.
Tanks.
- One tank holds the boss and points Regurgitation at an empty wall, because the adds crawl out of the spray and you want them in one pile instead of inside the healers.
- The second tank picks up Enraged Bloodclaws, since the journal marks them as a tank job and they hit twice as hard during Bestial Rage.
- Nobody except the tank stands in front of the boss, which in a pug guarantees that somebody will.
Healers.
- Every Seismic Slam is a raid-wide hit, so save cooldowns for the slams that land with adds still alive.
- Dispel Blood Nova, because it is a magic effect that raises damage taken by 3% per stack.
- Watch the bloodclaw tank during Bestial Rage, since 18 seconds of double damage is how tanks die in open world content.
Damage dealers and interrupts.
- Kill Radiating Voidticks first, because every live tick adds hail impacts to the next slam.
- Interrupt Toxin Splatter and kill Ingested Consumptors before the slam, or they leave 45-second Bilepools exactly where you planned to stand.
- Strip Bestial Rage with any enrage removal or offensive magic dispel, since the journal flags it as both.
Movement.
- Leave the Devour marker the moment it appears, because a 3-second stun inside it chains straight into the next bite.
- Position so Seismic Slam knocks you into open ground, not into a Bilepool or over the lip of the pit.
- Keep 5 yards from voidticks whenever a slam is due.
Where groups wipe.
- The raid tunnels the boss, ignores the vomit, and the next slam paints the pit with hail, bile and Blood Nova at once.
- A tank faces Regurgitation into the raid, so the adds spawn on the healers and the cone DoT finishes the job.
- Players get stunned by Devour, eat the following bite, and blame their ping.
- Nobody removes Bestial Rage, the off tank evaporates, and the bloodclaw goes shopping in the backline.
How Many Players You Realistically Need
Blizzard does not publish scaling for this fight. Season 1 guides told people to bring twenty or more, and that advice was written for characters in the 240s. Any Midnight Season 2 world boss group now arrives 30 to 100 item levels above the content, and it shows.
| Group size | What happens, our estimate |
|---|---|
| Full group finder raid | The boss dies before half its mechanics finish casting. Nobody learns anything. |
| 15 to 25 players | Comfortable kill if one tank turns the cone away and voidticks die before slams. |
| 5 to 10 players | Doable at Season 2 gear with a tank, a healer and interrupts, the adds become the real fight. |
| Solo | Not built for it. Bring people or at least a group finder listing. |
A pug can get away with zero healers at full size, no second tank, and nobody reading the journal. It cannot get away with a tank facing the cone into the raid, so check that before you check anything else. Pull when two tanks and three healers are in; waiting for forty is how you miss your Kith’ix pull.
Loot Table, Item Levels and What to Keep
The Predaxas loot table has eight entries: three found only here and five shared with Lu’ashal, Cragpine and Thorm’belan. Everything is Warbound until equipped, requires level 90 and drops once per week per Warband, while repeat kills on alts pay gold and nothing else.
| Item | Slot | Primary stat | Only from Predaxas | Worth it in 12.1.5 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Devouring Vanguard’s Soulcleaver | Two-Hand Axe | Strength | Yes | Transmog for Warriors, Retribution and Death Knights. |
| Voidbender’s Spire | Staff | Intellect | Yes | Transmog for staff casters. |
| Encroaching Shadow Signet | Finger | None | Yes | A ring, so not even an appearance. |
| Bramblestalker’s Feathered Cowl | Mail Head | Agility or Intellect | No | Alt filler. |
| Host Commander’s Casque | Plate Head | Intellect or Strength | No | Alt filler. |
| Wretched Scholar’s Gilded Robe | Cloth Chest | Intellect | No | Alt filler. |
| Devouring Outrider’s Chausses | Leather Legs | Agility or Intellect | No | Alt filler. |
| Forgotten Farstrider’s Insignia | Trinket | Agility, Intellect or Strength | No | Strong in Season 1, a museum piece now. |
Some lists still file Thorm’belan’s Beastly Blossombarb and Blooming Thornblade under Predaxas. The item pages disagree, and the item pages win.
Predaxas item level in 12.1 is listed at 246, and 12.1.5 does not raise it. Season 2 Raid Finder starts at 279, Normal at 292, and the lowest world row slot in the Great Vault is 279. Nothing this boss drops is an upgrade for a character that has done a single Season 2 activity.
Season 1 sources quoted 250, 253 and 256 for the same items depending on the week. The number wandered; the conclusion did not.
Is It Worth Your Time at Season 2 Item Levels
Honestly, as a WoW 12.1.5 world boss it is a ten-minute chore with no power attached. Your Season 2 key, the Kith’ix pull, a Labyrinth of Kindo’jan run and the hourly ten-minute Aqir Invasion in Eversong Woods or Zul’Aman all pay more per minute.
- Kill it if you collect appearances and still miss the Soulcleaver or the Spire.
- Kill it if you want Voidlight Marl, because from the week of October 6 Orin Straylight trades Marl, gold or Veteran Mistcrests for one extra Nebulous Voidcore a week once you finish Prismatic Potential and its follow-ups.
- Kill it if a fresh level 90 alt is still wearing quest greens and you enjoy mailing it charity.
- Skip it if your main is past item level 279, which describes every main that has queued for anything this season.
At launch the world quest paid 100 Voidlight Marl, 200 reputation with The Singularity and roughly a thousand gold. Check the quest tooltip for current numbers before you fly across the map for them. If you want world boss loot that actually counts, Nymrissa Wavecaller in The Tidebound Grotto is the Lair with real difficulties and Great Vault credit.
Mounts, Pets, Toys and Transmog
Predaxas drops no mount, no pet and no toy. The only boss-exclusive collectibles are the appearances of the Soulcleaver and the Spire, and the shared armor looks identical no matter which of the four bosses coughs it up.
The consolation prize lives next door. The Final Clutch of Predaxas treasure in the Den of Predaxas cave holds Reins of the Insatiable Shredclaw, a guaranteed ground mount behind a room of electrified eggs that disable your abilities and send you back to the entrance on contact. The same treasure counts toward Treasures of Voidstorm, whose reward is the Interdimensional Parcel Signal toy.
Lore: What This Creature Is and What Happened to It
Predaxas is a trigore, the hydra-like beast family of the Voidstorm, and the largest and strongest of them, ruling a sizable brood. The Adventure Guide sums up its personality: it gorged on whatever the Voidstorm spawns, never rests, never thinks, and keeps eating.
The fight is its digestive history. Radiating Voidticks are swallowed blistercreeps, Ingested Consumptors come back up still angry, and Enraged Bloodclaws are shredclaws that lost an argument with its stomach. Its heir, Aspore the Cascading, already died in the lair at the hands of Kalgorg the Unshackled, so killing the father is practically a family tradition. Riftblade Maella wants it dead before Xal’atath finds a use for it, while hunters can tame ordinary trigores as Hydra pets and will have to settle for those.
