World of Warcraft Forever: Release Date, Editions, Dungeons and Every System
World of Warcraft Forever launches globally on November 4, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. PST, and an active subscription or Game Time is the only thing you need to log in. Beta runs September 17 to October 21. The level cap is 60 and stays there indefinitely. The single hard paywall is the new playable race.
The WoW Forever release date is not a soft window. Launch day is fixed, the first raid tier opens on December 9, and everything between those two dates is leveling, which Blizzard insists is the product rather than the tax you pay to reach the product.
Forever is a third permanent branch of the game, running alongside modern WoW and Classic. It sits in its own continuity, starting after the Warcraft III Reforged: Forsaken Kingdom campaign and ending before Molten Core. Nothing here touches retail, and retail does not touch it. Internally the project was called Camelot, which tells you how long this has been sitting in a drawer.
Every Date That Matters
| Date | What happens |
|---|---|
| September 17, 2026 | Beta opens for Epic Pack and above |
| October 20, 2026 | Invite-A-Friend codes start arriving by email |
| October 21, 2026 | Beta closes |
| October 27 to November 3 | Early Name Reservation, up to three characters |
| November 4, 2026, 3:00 p.m. PST | Global launch |
| November 4 to 11, 2026 | Invite-A-Friend free access window |
| December 9, 2026 | First raids unlock |
| January 11, 2027 | Warcraft Forever Collection leaves the shop |
The WoW Forever beta is not open and not free. It ships with the Skyborne Epic Pack, the Warcraft Forever Collection, and the physical Collector’s Edition. The cheapest pack does not include it. Name reservation is first come, first served, and Blizzard has already told you your name is not guaranteed.
Editions and What You Are Actually Buying
World of Warcraft Forever pre-purchase is optional, permanently. The game is not sold. What is sold is a race, a head start, and a pile of cosmetics that also work in retail.
| Edition | Price | What it adds |
|---|---|---|
| Subscription or Game Time | No extra cost | The entire game, minus the Skyborne |
| Skyborne Heroic Pack | $29.99 | Skyborne race, Zephras Isle intro, name reservation, mount, cosmetics, one friend code |
| Skyborne Epic Pack | $59.99 | Heroic contents plus beta, 30 days Game Time, pets, tabards, three friend codes |
| Warcraft Forever Collection | $79.99 | Epic contents plus Warcraft III: Reforged and the Forsaken Kingdom campaign |
| Collector’s Edition | $150 | Collection code plus statue, mousepad, art prints, pins, journal |
The honest summary of the WoW Forever price ladder is this. Pay nothing and you get the whole world. Pay $29.99 and you get the new race. Pay $59.99 and you get to see the game early. Pay $79.99 and you get a strategy game you probably already own. The Cerulean Prideclaw mount still requires you to buy riding skill in game, because of course it does.
- Invite-A-Friend codes grant access from November 4 to 11 without a subscription.
- Those codes do not grant Game Time, the Skyborne race, or the Zephras Isle questline.
- An account that already bought a Forever upgrade cannot redeem one.
- Australia and New Zealand buy the physical box through regional retailers instead of the Gear Store.
The Skyborne, and Why They Cost Money
The WoW Forever Skyborne race is a new elven people from Zephras Isle, and faction choice happens at character creation rather than being decided for you. Horde Skyborne follow elemental tradition and unlock Shaman. Alliance Skyborne chase the arcane and unlock Mage. Both sides can also roll Warrior, Hunter, Rogue, and Druid, with bespoke Druid forms.
Zephras Isle covers levels 1 to 12 and is locked behind the same purchase. If you skip the packs you will never see that starting zone, which is a deliberate and slightly sadistic piece of design.
New Zones and Reimagined Old Ones
The WoW Forever new zones are the reason to care. There are over 1,000 new quests spread across the level 1 to 60 journey, not dumped at the end.
| Zone | Role |
|---|---|
| Mount Hyjal | Aftermath of Archimonde’s defeat, Darkwhisper Gorge, restoration questing |
| Shen’dralas | Hidden region between Mulgore and Desolace, tied to the Shen’dralar, Eldre’Thalas, Dire Maul and the centaur |
| Riverglades | Frontier of rivers and trade routes, over 150 quests across the mid 30s to mid 40s |
| Zephras Isle | Skyborne starting experience, levels 1 to 12, Skywall inspired architecture |
| Dalaran | Rebuilt as a questing city inside the Alterac Mountains |
Original zones get a lighting pass rather than a rebuild. Rivers flow in Elwynn Forest, mist sits on the water in Darkshore, moonlight cuts through the canopy in Ashenvale. Global illumination, volumetric fog, god rays, better water and shadows. The art style stays. You can toggle HD and SD character models, and HD models keep the restored Classic animations.
All Nine Dungeons
The World of Warcraft Forever dungeon list covers the whole leveling curve, which is the point. There is a dungeon waiting in almost every bracket, so tanks will be in demand from level 13 onward.
| Dungeon | Location | Levels |
|---|---|---|
| Hall of Thanes | Ironforge | 13-18 |
| Ruins of Lordaeron | Undercity | 15-20 |
| Wetlands Dig Site | Wetlands | 24-29 |
| Dalaran | Alterac Mountains | 28-33 |
| The Drowned City | Stranglethorn Vale | 35-40 |
| Krol’dok Stronghold | Riverglades | 40-55 |
| Alcaz Prison | Dustwallow Marsh | 48-53 |
| Blackmaw Hold | Azshara | 55-60 |
| Shaper’s Terrace | Un’Goro Crater | 58-60 |
Anyone searching for WoW Forever dungeons expecting a Mythic ladder will be disappointed. These are five player instances with quests attached, crowd control that matters, and blue quality unique boss drops. Polymorph is a tool again, not a leftover.
Raids and PvP
There are two raids at the December 9 opening, and they are deliberately different sizes. WoW Forever raids are the Barrow Deeps as a maximum level 10 player challenge and Hyjal Summit as a 20 player fight in one of the franchise’s load bearing locations. New tier sets are confirmed. A legendary reward exists and has not been revealed.
PvP gets the Darkspear Islands, a 15 versus 15 battleground off the coast of Kalimdor that mixes control points with Arathi Basin style flag work. Faction balance systems similar to Season of Discovery are planned for the PvP ruleset, which is an admission of how that usually goes.
Ruleset choice is not cosmetic. You cannot group across rulesets, Horde and Alliance still cannot group with each other, and progress leaves Hardcore but never flows back in. Pick badly and the only repair is rolling a new character.
Realmless: There Is No Server List
The WoW Forever realmless model deletes the realm picker entirely. You choose a ruleset instead of a server name, and each ruleset behaves like its own large ecosystem rather than one shared megaserver.
- Normal is the cooperative baseline where player versus player combat requires consent.
- PvP makes contested territory dangerous the way it used to be.
- Roleplaying gathers players who want the fantasy taken seriously.
- Hardcore arrives after launch and keeps death permanent.
- Characters use two part names, closer to a first name and a surname.
- Names are unique per region rather than per realm.
- You can set a language preference and be matched with players who share it.
- Collections and Legacy Points are account wide across every ruleset except Hardcore.
- A dead Hardcore character can transfer out to another ruleset, including PvP.
The Legacy System
Legacy is the alt reward system, built out of the observation that Hardcore made the world feel busy. You earn Legacy Points from Legacy Challenges, such as leveling a specific class or hitting a skill milestone, then spend them per character in shared trees.
| Tree | Example talent | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Adventure | Well Rested | More rested experience and a higher rested cap |
| Professions | Bountiful Harvest | More materials from mining, herbalism and skinning |
| Resourcefulness | Reagent Economy | Removes reagent requirements from class abilities |
- Points are earned account wide and spent separately on each character.
- Each character can spend up to 16 points at launch.
- You can bank up to 65 points at the start, so the spending cap bites early.
- Surplus points feed the Legacy Reward Track for cosmetics such as the Spectral Bear Cub.
- Mount cost moves into the riding skill, Burning Crusade style, and the mount comes with the training.
Camping and Professions
Camping upgrades the Cooking Fire into a Basic Campfire and turns it into a social object. Sit down, get rested, collect a one hour buff, then leave. Up to three crafted objects can be added to a campfire, one per player, sharing a one hour cooldown.
| Profession | Object | Benefit |
|---|---|---|
| Blacksmithing | Sharpening Wheel | Attack Power |
| Tailoring | Faction Banner | Spirit |
| Herbalism | Incense Candle | Intellect |
| Alchemy | Alchemy Lab | Workspace access |
| Leatherworking | Tanning Rack | Required for advanced recipes |
| Cooking | Upgraded Campfires | Raises the camp limit to five or ten objects |
- First camp objects unlock at profession skill 20 from trainers or dedicated camping NPCs.
- Advanced objects come from Blueprint recipes that drop off specific dungeon bosses.
- Camp buffs are variants of class buffs and do not stack with them.
- Professions gain over 600 new recipes, and crafted food can now grant a small experience bonus.
Classes, Racials and Talents
Six new race and class combinations arrive at launch: Gnome Priest, Human Hunter, Dwarf Shaman, Orc Mage, Troll Warlock, and Undead Paladin. More are planned. Every race now carries two active and two passive abilities tuned toward similar offensive value.
| Racial | Change |
|---|---|
| Stoneform | Still clears Bleeds, Poisons and Diseases, but now reduces Physical damage taken instead of adding Armor |
| Will of the Forsaken | Still removes Charm, Fear and Sleep, but no longer grants immunity to them |
| Cannibalize | Restores Mana as well as Health, which finally matters for casters |
| Touch of the Grave | New Undead passive giving attacks a chance to drain life |
| Big Game Hunter | Dwarf passive increasing damage against Beasts |
Talent trees keep the 1.12 shape and row count, with one point milestones at 11, 21 and 31 and a new milestone at 16. Buff taxes are gone: Blessing of Kings, Divine Spirit and Improved Mark of the Wild are baseline for their classes.
Paladins are the showcase. Holy Strike lands at level 6 as an instant Holy weapon strike on a 12 second cooldown, Consecration is baseline at 20, and Judgment no longer eats your Seal. Seal of Fury gives Protection a tanking seal with small absorbs and a taunting Judgment. They still have no interrupt and no generic slow, which is the whole design philosophy in one sentence.
Itemization and Combat Pacing
A solo player should expect an ordinary creature to take roughly 10 to 15 seconds to kill. That number is the entire combat design brief.
- Spell, melee and ranged hit chance are merged into one stat, and critical chance is merged the same way.
- Weapon skill still works but items carry less of it, so it stops being the automatic pick.
- Bonus healing now carries one third as much bonus damage for healers questing alone.
- New stats reduce the chance for attacks to be parried or dodged.
- Caster weapons grant spell damage and healing, so spellcasters get real level up weapons.
- Unique dungeon boss items are blue quality and set bonuses have been strengthened.
Quest rewards were widened rather than replaced. The Mor’ladim chain in Duskwood still hands out a two handed sword but now also offers a caster ring, and Nesingwary’s Stranglethorn Vale hunts gained new options. Trinkets lean situational, including effects tied to terrain types and creature families.
Transmogrification, Opt In and Opt Out
- Transmog exists but can be disabled entirely at a transmogrifier in major cities.
- Choosing Classic Mode on first launch disables it automatically.
- Disabling it means you see everyone in their equipped gear, and they still see your hidden helm and cloak settings.
- Bind on pickup Uncommon and Rare dungeon drops grant the appearance to every eligible looter on loot.
- Epic raid drops grant the appearance only to the player the item binds to.
- Poor and Common items grant appearances immediately without binding.
- Level restrictions on appearances disappear at level 60.
What Forever Deliberately Does Not Have
- There are no flying mounts anywhere in the game.
- There is no level scaling, so zones are dangerous or trivial on their own terms.
- There is no cross faction grouping.
- There is no cross ruleset grouping.
- There is no realm list to agonise over, and no realm to blame later.
Is It Worth Pre-Purchasing
If you already pay a subscription, buying nothing is a defensible position and you still get every zone, dungeon, raid and system listed above. Buy the Heroic Pack only if the Skyborne matter to you. Buy the Epic Pack only if a month of beta is worth thirty dollars. The Collection is a Warcraft III sale wearing a costume, and the Collector’s Edition is a statue with a game attached.
The thing worth remembering is that World of Warcraft Forever is being pitched as permanent rather than seasonal. If that holds, there is no rush. If it does not, you will find out around December 9 like everyone else.
