WoW 12.1.5 The Singularity Renown Guide: All 20 Ranks

Short version for people who stop reading here. The Singularity is the Voidstorm renown faction, its quartermaster is Void Researcher Anomander at Howling Ridge (/way #2405 52.6 72.8), it has 20 ranks of 2,500 reputation each, and every rank is shared across your warband. WoW 12.1.5 Singularity renown is unchanged from 12.1: the patch notes do not mention the faction once. The rewards worth chasing are two mounts at ranks 17 and 19 and the title at 20. The gear is Season 1 junk.

So patch 12.1.5, The Promise of Tomorrow, lands on October 13 with Kith’ix, the Labyrinth of Kindo’jan and Aqir Invasions, and none of it pays Singularity reputation directly. The faction is a side job you finish with the Silvermoon dungeon weekly and Voidstorm world quests while your keys and raid lockouts do the real work.

Who The Singularity Are and Where Anomander Stands

The Singularity is Magister Umbric’s coalition of Ren’dorei and anyone else desperate enough to fight Xal’atath inside a permanent void storm. Their base is Howling Ridge in southern Voidstorm, a level 88 to 90 zone that hates you personally.

The Singularity quartermaster location is the bottom level of Howling Ridge, at /way #2405 52.6 72.8. Void Researcher Anomander sells everything, takes Voidlight Marl for payment and hands out the paragon quest Renowned with The Singularity once you push past rank 20.

Unlocking the Faction and What Gates It

There is no attunement drama. Knowing how to unlock The Singularity comes down to reaching Voidstorm through the Midnight campaign; the faction starts tracking the moment you quest there. World quests open after the level up campaign is done, and the Stormarion Assault weekly needs the Voidstorm intro chain finished through the quest Core Collapse.

• Reach Voidstorm through the main Midnight campaign and finish the zone story, since it is the largest one-time pile of reputation you will ever see here.
• Pick up Researching the Storm from Anomander at Howling Ridge to switch on the Research Console.
• Finish the level up campaign at level 90 so Voidstorm world quests and Special Assignments start appearing.
• Complete the intro chain through Core Collapse so the Stormarion Assault and its weekly quest become available.

All Singularity renown rewards below, rank by rank, nothing compressed. Renown unlocks the right to buy, not the item itself, so budget Voidlight Marl for almost every line. Recipes also cost 150 Artisan Moxie of the matching profession, knowledge books cost 75.

Past rank 20 every filled bar becomes Renowned with The Singularity, which pays an Overflowing Singularity Trove. Nice for gold, irrelevant for power.

Here is how to farm Singularity reputation without wasting a week. Blizzard publishes exact numbers only for the two choice weeklies, so the rest is ranked by practical yield, not invented decimals.

The contract is one signature per week for the whole warband and adds a small bonus to world quests. Scribes learn it at rank 5, which is the kind of circular economy only a void elf could love.

Fastest Weekly Loop in Season 2

This is the Midnight Season 2 renown loop for The Singularity, written for a week where you also pull Kith’ix and run keys. Order matters only because the first two steps do most of the work.

1. Run your Season 2 key or any dungeon and turn in the Halduron Brightwing weekly with The Singularity selected.
2. Complete The World Awaits with ten world quests whenever the bonus event is live and pick The Singularity.
3. Sign Contract: The Singularity before touching a single world quest, since the bonus is not retroactive.
4. Clear three Voidstorm world quests for Research Console: Exploring the Void and collect your Uncontaminated Void Sample.
5. Defend Stormarion once for Stand Your Ground and the Pinnacle Cache.
6. Finish the remaining Voidstorm world quests and Special Assignments, then kill whatever rares are up on your route out.

What to Do First on a Fresh Character

Renown is warband-wide, so a fresh alt inherits your rank and loses nothing. The Promise of Tomorrow renown problem is only real on a brand new account, where the order below avoids wasted Marl.

• Finish the Voidstorm story before anything else, because it is the biggest one-time reputation chunk available.
• Save Voidlight Marl until rank 17 and 19 instead of buying 246 gloves you will replace within an hour of Season 2 content.
• Unlock the Research Console immediately so the weekly samples start stacking from week one.
• Route Halduron’s weekly to The Singularity only if it is your lowest Midnight faction, otherwise feed the laggard.

The Research Console

The console at Howling Ridge sells power for Uncontaminated Void Sample, one sample per perk. The weekly Research Console: Exploring the Void wants three Voidstorm world quests. Finish every perk for Staring Into The Void and the Lab-Grown Stormray lands in your mailbox.

Gear and Whether It Survives Season 2

Voidstorm renown gear is two things: the rank 2 gloves and the rank 7 trinket. Both were Season 1 Champion level items at 246, and both are now vendor fodder.

Do not spend Marl on Singularity gear in 12.1.5. Season 2 tracks run Adventurer 266 to 282, Veteran 279 to 295, Champion 292 to 308, Hero 305 to 321 and Myth 318 to 334, so a 246 item loses to a random world quest drop. Wowhead also flags Guarded Treasures, the quest that delivered the trinket, as obsolete. Put the Marl into the mounts.

The trinket’s Voidlust proc still reacts to the Research Console protocols, which is cute and changes nothing at Season 2 item levels.

Mounts, Pets, Toys, Transmog, Title and Decor

The Singularity renown mounts are the only reason to grind past rank 16. Three more cosmetics tie to the faction without being sold by Anomander.

• Ravenous Shredclaw is a ground mount at rank 17 that costs 6,000 Voidlight Marl.
• Voidbound Stormray is a dynamic flying mount at rank 19 that costs 8,000 Voidlight Marl.
• Lab-Grown Stormray is mailed to you after Staring Into The Void, which requires every Research Console perk.
• Reins of the Contained Stormarion Defender is a random drop from the Victorious Stormarion Pinnacle Cache earned through Stormarion Assault.
• Blitzcreek is the rank 14 battle pet and costs 2,500 Voidlight Marl.
• Enigmatic Fountain is the rank 16 toy and costs 4,000 Voidlight Marl.
• The Gilded, Darkened and Nebulous Collapsed Star sets come as shawls at rank 4, tabards at rank 10 and pauldrons at rank 15.
• The title The Singular unlocks at rank 20 and tells everyone you spent a season in a storm for a word.

Total Marl for every collectible and all fourteen vendor decor pieces lands well above 50,000, so the pet and toy can wait while the mounts cannot.

What 12.1.5 Changes for The Singularity

Nothing. The 12.1.5 notes add patch 12.1.5 reputation changes for Legion and Battle for Azeroth factions, which become warband-wide, and catch-up for Prey hunts. The Singularity, Voidstorm and Stormarion Assault are not mentioned at all, and 12.1 did not touch them either.

What does change is context. Ascendant Venomstones from October 20 push Season 2 Hero and Myth gear higher still, which buries the 246 renown gear deeper, and the Halduron weekly keeps paying 1,500 for every dungeon you were already running.
