WoW Forever Alchemy Guide: Full 1-300 Leveling, Farming and Gold

Alchemy in World of Warcraft: Forever is the same 1-300 grind you already resented, with three changes that actually matter. Mixology makes the elixirs and flasks you drink yourself last longer and hit harder. The Philosopher’s Stone became an upgradeable trinket instead of a one-time crafting key. And an Alchemy Lab can now be planted at a campfire, so flasks no longer require six bosses of Scholomance and a raid ID. This WoW Forever Alchemy guide covers the cheapest route to 300, every trainer, every farm, and the short list of recipes worth a bag slot.

The whole route compressed, because you were going to scroll anyway: Minor Healing Potion to 60, Lesser Healing Potion to 110, Healing Potion to 140, Lesser Mana Potion to 155, Greater Healing Potion to 185, Elixir of Agility to 210, Elixir of Greater Defense to 215, Superior Healing Potion to 230, one Philosophers’ Stone, Elixir of Detect Undead to 250, Elixir of Greater Agility to 265, Superior Mana Potion to 285, Major Healing Potion to 300. Four trainer visits, roughly 600 herbs, roughly 310 vials.

What Forever Actually Changed

Forever is built on the 1.12 skeleton, which is why every recipe, trainer and herb node below is the old Classic one and will stay that way. What Blizzard bolted on top is a WoW Forever profession bonus layer that Classic never had, plus the account-wide Legacy tree. Alchemy is one of the professions that benefits most, which is a polite way of saying everyone will roll it and your margins will be thinner than you hope.

  • Mixology increases the duration and the effect of elixirs and flasks that you drink yourself.
  • The Philosopher’s Stone now starts as a Crude Philosopher’s Stone and upgrades as your skill climbs, unlocking transmutes as it goes.
  • An equipped Philosopher’s Stone increases the healing you receive from potions, so it is a real trinket slot argument and not just a key.
  • New crafts include melee and ranged attack power flasks and reputation elixirs, neither of which existed in vanilla.
  • Blizzard announced over 600 new recipes across all professions, so treat every table here as a floor rather than a ceiling.
  • The first campsite object unlocks at skill 20 from a camping NPC or your profession trainer, and better blueprints drop from specific dungeon bosses.

The Legacy tree is where the profession quietly gets good. Points are earned account wide from challenges such as hitting Artisan, but only 16 can be spent at launch out of roughly 65 available. You will not get everything, so pick the nodes that shorten the grind rather than the ones that look nice.

Legacy perkWhy an alchemist cares
Working OvertimeUp to 4% per rank more chance of a skill point from any tradeskill

Trainers and Coordinates

Four ranks, four interruptions. The WoW Forever Alchemy trainers below are the 1.12 roster with 1.12 coordinates, which Forever has not touched. Apprentice and Journeyman live in every capital and a few starter hubs. Expert and Artisan do not, and the walk is the point.

Two traps worth naming. Kylanna Windwhisper is an Artisan trainer only and will not sell you Expert, despite a decade of guides sending Alliance alchemists across Feralas for it. And Undercity has two doctors: Doctor Marsh is your Expert in the 1.12 data, while Doctor Herbert Halsey is listed as Expert by some databases and Artisan by others, so click both and let the trainer window settle the argument.

Full 1-300 Leveling Route

This is the standard World of Warcraft Forever Alchemy leveling 1-300 path, optimised for the least gold spent rather than the fewest crafts. Orange recipes always give a point, yellow usually do, green rarely, grey never. Every number below assumes average luck, which you will not have.

SkillCraftMaterials per craft
1 to 6059x Minor Healing Potion1 Peacebloom, 1 Silverleaf, 1 Empty Vial
60 to 11059x Lesser Healing Potion1 Minor Healing Potion, 1 Briarthorn, no vial
110 to 14030x Healing Potion1 Bruiseweed, 1 Briarthorn, 1 Leaded Vial
140 to 15515x Lesser Mana Potion1 Mageroyal, 1 Stranglekelp, 1 Empty Vial
155 to 18530x Greater Healing Potion1 Liferoot, 1 Kingsblood, 1 Leaded Vial
185 to 21025x Elixir of Agility1 Stranglekelp, 1 Goldthorn, 1 Leaded Vial
210 to 21510x Elixir of Greater Defense1 Wild Steelbloom, 1 Goldthorn, 1 Leaded Vial
215 to 23015x Superior Healing Potion1 Sungrass, 1 Khadgar’s Whisker, 1 Crystal Vial
230 to 2311x Philosophers’ Stone4 Iron Bar, 1 Black Vitriol, 4 Purple Lotus, 4 Firebloom
231 to 25019x Elixir of Detect Undead1 Arthas’ Tears, 1 Crystal Vial
250 to 26515x Elixir of Greater Agility1 Sungrass, 1 Goldthorn, 1 Crystal Vial
265 to 28520x Superior Mana Potion2 Sungrass, 2 Blindweed, 1 Crystal Vial
285 to 30018x Major Healing Potion2 Golden Sansam, 1 Mountain Silversage, 1 Crystal Vial

The Genuinely Cheap Variant

The route above is what every site prints. It is not the cheapest. Arthas’ Tears is a junk herb with almost no competing demand and sits near the bottom of the auction house, while Goldthorn and Sungrass feed half a dozen popular recipes and price accordingly. Elixir of Detect Undead stays yellow well past 250, so riding it to 260 before touching Elixir of Greater Agility saves roughly 20 Sungrass and 20 Goldthorn for the cost of a few extra Arthas’ Tears.

The same logic applies at the bottom. Briarthorn spikes on fresh servers because every alchemist needs 89 of it in the same week. If Briarthorn costs more than a silver, craft Elixir of Water Breathing from Blackmouth Oil instead and let the fishermen subsidise you.

Level your profession on the herb nobody wants, not the herb the guide recommends. A yellow recipe made of cheap trash beats an orange recipe made of raid consumable reagents every single time, and the only thing you lose is twenty minutes.

Full Materials List

Minimum totals for the standard route. Buy 10 to 20 percent more of anything used in a yellow band, because the skill-up roll does not care about your budget. The Working Overtime Legacy node reduces this waste and is the single best reason to spend early points in the Professions tree.

Note the Wild Steelbloom count. Several long-running guides list 5 because they copied the recipe cost and forgot the recipe is crafted ten times. Buy 10, or enjoy the walk back to the auction house.

Herb Farming Spots and Routes

Every WoW Forever herb farming route still starts with the same fact: Alchemy without Herbalism is a subscription to the auction house. Forever sweetens it. Herbalists gain magic resistance that scales with skill, get an improved chance at Black Lotus, and can now herb certain creatures after they die, which turns dead-end grind zones into gathering zones.

Four circuits cover the whole leveling span. Run them on a loop rather than clearing a zone, because herb respawn is timed and your patience is not.

  1. Early circuit runs the outer ring of your starting zone into the next zone over and back, which covers Peacebloom, Silverleaf, Briarthorn and Mageroyal without ever fighting anything worth fighting.
  2. Mid circuit loops Arathi Highlands into Hillsbrad Foothills for Kingsblood, Liferoot, Bruiseweed and Wild Steelbloom, with a detour to the Hillsbrad coast for Stranglekelp.
  3. Goldthorn circuit runs the western Hinterlands ridgeline into northern Arathi Highlands, which is also the only sane place to gather Khadgar’s Whisker in volume.
  4. Endgame circuit runs Felwood into Winterspring into Un’Goro Crater for Sungrass, Golden Sansam, Mountain Silversage and Dreamfoil, checking every known Black Lotus spawn on the way through.

Forever adds four playable zones: Zephras Isle for the Skyborne starting experience, Riverglades in the mid thirties to mid forties, Shen’dralas, and Mount Hyjal at endgame. Their node tables are not public yet. Assume the high-level herbs seed into Mount Hyjal and plan to rewrite your endgame circuit in week two.

Specializations and How to Choose One

There are none. That is the entire answer to WoW Forever Alchemy specializations. Elixir Master, Potion Master and Transmutation Master arrived in The Burning Crusade, and Forever sits before Molten Core in its own timeline, so there is nothing to pick and nobody to pick it from. Any site offering you a specialization comparison table is describing a different game.

What you choose instead is a stone path and a Legacy allocation, and those are real decisions. The Philosopher’s Stone upgrade chain gates which transmutes you can perform, and the 16 point Legacy cap forces you to pick between skill-up efficiency, gathering yield and camp convenience. Choose Working Overtime and Bountiful Harvest first if you are leveling, Dedicated Study last because one point per day is a rounding error until you are at 299.

The Philosopher’s Stone and Transmutes

In Classic the stone was a key you crafted once at 230 and forgot. The WoW Forever Philosopher’s Stone is a trinket that starts crude, upgrades with your skill, unlocks transmutes as it improves, and increases potion healing while equipped. Craft it on schedule at 230, because falling behind the upgrade chain means locked recipes rather than a missing convenience.

Transmutes carry cooldowns between one and two days and share a single timer in the metal chain, so the daily question is which one prints the most. On any server with an active raiding scene the answer is arcanite and it is not close.

Best Recipes and Where They Drop

Trainers hand you the boring half. The WoW Forever Alchemy recipes that decide whether you are a raid supplier or a guy with 300 skill come from vendors behind reputation walls, from world drops, and from bosses. Start collecting them while you level, because the day you hit 300 is the day everyone else starts bidding on the same patterns.

BiS Crafts and Which Class Wants Them

The WoW Forever best flasks list is short because there are only five of them, and Mixology means your own copy is better than the one you sell. Note that Forever adds melee and ranged attack power flasks, which if they behave like their later counterparts will push Flask of the Titans out of the physical damage slot entirely. Until the beta data lands, plan around the five below and keep receipts.

Gold Making and Profit Margins

Honest framing first: WoW Forever Alchemy gold making is a cooldown business with a consumables side hustle, not a crafting business. Almost nothing you make while leveling sells above material cost, so stop pretending the 200 Greater Healing Potions in your bank are an investment. Real income starts at 300 and it arrives in three streams.

Income streamCadenceNotes
Arcanite Bar transmutesDailyThe only source of arcanite in the game, feeds Thunderfury and Nightfall
Raid night consumablesWeekly spikePost protection potions and elixirs the day before your server raids, not the day after
Elemental transmutesCooldownMargins depend entirely on which crafters your server is short of
Flask commissionsOpportunisticYou supply labour, the customer supplies Black Lotus, everyone stays friends
Supply crate turn-insOngoingMerchant’s Favor from the Azeroth Commerce Authority or Durotar Supply and Logistics

Two structural warnings for Forever specifically. There are no realms, which means one market instead of many small ones, so regional price gaps you used to arbitrage will not exist. And the Waylaid Supplies factions returned from Season of Discovery, which means crafted goods now have a reputation sink competing with the auction house for your output. Decide which you are feeding before you craft 40 of something.

Best Class and Profession Pairings

Herbalism is the correct second profession and everything else is a rationalisation. It removes the auction house from your leveling cost, feeds the Bountiful Harvest Legacy node, and now carries its own magic resistance bonus. Mining is the only defensible alternative, because transmutes eat bars and nobody enjoys buying ore in bulk.

  • Herbalism is the default pairing and the only one that pays for itself before level 60.
  • Mining suits an alchemist who plans to live on metal transmutes and has a second gatherer alt for herbs.
  • Fishing is a secondary skill and quietly mandatory, since oils and several potions want fish you cannot buy reliably.
  • Warriors and Rogues gain the most raw value because they burn the most consumables per raid night.
  • Healers gain the most survivability value, since Mixology on Flask of Distilled Wisdom is a meaningful mana budget rather than a nicety.
  • Warlocks and Mages benefit least from the profession bonus and most from simply buying your output.

Camping and the Alchemy Lab

This is the biggest quality of life change in the profession and almost nobody is talking about it. In Classic, flasks required an Alchemy Lab, and there were exactly two: Ras Frostwhisper’s room in Scholomance, six bosses deep, and the room past Broodlord Lashlayer in Blackwing Lair. In Forever, alchemists can craft and place an Alchemy Lab at a campsite.

The rules are camp rules, not crafting rules. A campsite holds three placed objects, each player may place one object on a one hour cooldown, and the buffs require you to sit and become rested before they apply. Which means flask night is now a small social event with a fire, and the alchemist is the reason everyone is standing around. Enjoy the responsibility.

Mistakes That Cost You Gold

  • Vendoring the 59 Minor Healing Potions before 60 forces you to craft them all again for the Lesser Healing Potion step.
  • Buying Crystal Vial before you need it wastes bag space for forty levels and saves you nothing.
  • Skipping the Philosopher’s Stone at 230 locks every transmute and therefore every reliable income stream you have.
  • Training Artisan late means grinding to 225 and then standing still, since skill is capped at your rank regardless of materials.
  • Letting a transmute cooldown lapse costs more over a month than any single leveling decision in this guide.
  • Crafting the expensive orange recipe when a cheap yellow one is still available is how people spend 100 gold reaching 300.

World of Warcraft: Forever launches on 4 November 2026, with beta from 17 September capped around level 30. Everything above the Forever-specific sections is 1.12 data and will not move. Everything in the Forever-specific sections is pre-release and will. Check back after beta, when we find out which of these numbers Blizzard quietly changed while nobody was looking.

Does Alchemy have specializations in WoW Forever?

No. Specializations arrived in The Burning Crusade, and Forever is set before Molten Core with none announced.

What level do you need for Artisan Alchemy?

Character level 35 and around 200 Alchemy skill, trained from Kylanna Windwhisper in Feralas or Rogvar in Stonard.

What is the cheapest way to level Alchemy to 300?

Ride cheap junk herbs like Arthas Tears through yellow recipes instead of burning Sungrass and Goldthorn on orange ones.

Can you still only make flasks in Scholomance and Blackwing Lair?

No. Forever lets alchemists craft and place an Alchemy Lab at a campsite, which removes the raid requirement entirely.

Is Alchemy profitable in WoW Forever?

Yes, but only at 300. Income comes from daily arcanite transmutes and raid night consumables, not from leveling crafts.
