Azshara Leveling Guide for WoW Forever: Route, Quests, Rares

Short version for people who stop reading here. Azshara leveling in Forever is a level 51 to 54 detour: take the quests from Loh’atu, the goblin Kim’jael and your faction camp, clear the Ruins of Eldarath once, then leave for Felwood or Un’Goro and come back at 55 for Blackmaw Hold. Azshara has no inn, no flying and plenty of naga who dislike you personally.

WoW Forever Azshara keeps the old quest chains, the old hubs and the old skips, which is exactly why they still work. The new part sits behind the sealed furbolg gate in the north, and it is the only reason the zone matters at level 60.

What Forever Changes in Azshara

Blizzard did not repaint the quests here. It changed the rules around them, and the rules decide how long you stay.

SystemWhat it means in Azshara
No flying mountsEvery trip to the Ruins of Eldarath and back is on foot, so route order matters.
No level scalingNaga at 55 stay 55. Arriving at 49 is a hobby, not a plan.
Realmless rulesetsYou pick Normal, PvP or Roleplaying instead of a realm, and Valormok on PvP is a gank buffet.
Dungeon XP moved to questsBlackmaw Hold rewards its quests, not repeated clears.
Guaranteed Rare per dungeon bossBlackmaw Hold is a real pre-raid gear stop, not a scenic tunnel.
Blackmaw Hold, 55 to 60The gate that stayed shut for twenty years finally opens.
Account-wide reputation perksGrinding a faction on one character pays off on the next.

For anyone still counting days, the WoW Forever release date is November 4, 2026, with the opt-in beta starting September 17. Barrow Deeps, Hyjal Summit and Onyxia’s Lair open on December 9, which gives you roughly a month to stop dying to Spitelash sirens.

How to Get to Azshara and Flight Paths

Both factions walk in from Ashenvale. The road east crosses the river straight into Talrendis Point, and Valormok sits against the mountains north of the ruined Haldarr Encampment. Learn the local flight master on your first visit or enjoy the jog again later.

The WoW Forever flight paths are the original ones, and Blizzard has announced no changes for this corner of Kalimdor. That means one flight point per faction, parked in the far west, while half your objectives sit on the eastern cliffs.

Level Range: When to Come, When to Leave

Original quest levels run from 47 to 58, but the Azshara leveling sweet spot is narrower. Show up at 51, and the Loh’atu starters turn grey fast enough that you finish them before they insult you.

This WoW Forever leveling guide assumes you leave at 53 or 54. Felwood, Un’Goro and Winterspring hold more quests per square meter, and Azshara at 55 is mostly walking past things that no longer give XP.

Think of WoW Forever 50-55 leveling as a loop, not a line. Azshara first, Felwood and Un’Goro second, then back here at 55 for the gate, the Duke and the dragon.

Quest Hubs and Breadcrumbs

World of Warcraft Forever Azshara quests start in capital cities, not in Azshara. Skip the breadcrumbs and you arrive with half a quest log and no idea why the Horde camp hates a blood elf.

  • Belgrom Rockmaul in the Valley of Honor, Orgrimmar, starts the Horde Betrayed chain that sends you to Ag’tor Bloodfist at Valormok.
  • Historian Karnik in Ironforge starts Passing the Burden, which unlocks Arcane Runes from Tymor in the Mystic Ward.
  • Xiggs Fuselighter in Ironforge hands out Signal for Pickup, and without it the Arcane Runes turn in never shows up.
  • Loh’atu at Talrendis Point gives two neutral kill quests to both factions and is the first stop for everyone.
  • Jediga at Valormok offers Stealing Knowledge, the Horde tablet run that ends in four city deliveries.
  • Kim’jael on the hill at Legash Encampment is neutral and pays both factions to recover his gear from blood elves.
  • The Fallen Hero of the Horde near Blasted Lands gives The Demon Hunter, which sends you to Loramus Thalipedes on his island.
  • Duke Hydraxis on the eastern island starts the Hydraxian Waterlords chain that eventually unlocks Molten Core summons.
  • Class trainers send mages and rogues to Archmage Xylem, and hunters and priests to the furbolg Ogtinc at the Ruins of Eldarath.

Optimal Quest Order

The World of Warcraft Forever leveling route below minimizes backtracking without flying. Grab everything before the first trip east, because every second trip is a punishment you chose.

Horde route. Bind your hearthstone in Orgrimmar, since Valormok has no innkeeper and the flight home is a single hop.

  1. Pick up Betrayed from Belgrom Rockmaul in Orgrimmar and bind your Hearthstone there.
  2. Run in from Ashenvale and grab both Loh’atu quests at Talrendis Point.
  3. Kill Highborne Apparitions and Lichlings at Shadowsong Shrine, then the Haldarr satyrs to the northeast.
  4. Turn both in, walk to Valormok, learn the flight path and accept Stealing Knowledge from Jediga.
  5. Turn in Betrayed to Ag’tor Bloodfist and accept the follow up that sends you to the Thalassian Base Camp.
  6. Accept Kim’jael Indeed! at Legash Encampment, then loot Kim’Jael’s Compass, Kim’Jael’s Scope, Kim’Jael’s Stuffed Chicken and Kim’Jael’s Wizzlegoober from crates beside the tents.
  7. Kill ten Blood Elf Reclaimers and ten Surveyors in the same camp, then find Magus Rimtori’s camp and read the Kaldorei Tome of Summoning.
  8. Break the crystal tied to Rimtori for Betrayed only if you are 54 or have a partner, because she arrives at 55 with a minion.
  9. Turn in to Kim’jael, accept Kim’jael’s “Missing” Equipment and head down to the Ruins of Eldarath.
  10. Collect Some Rune from Spitelash naga and all four tablets for Stealing Knowledge in the same sweep.
  11. Return to Kim’jael, then Valormok, and accept the four delivery quests from Jediga.
  12. Use Sanath Lim-yo to reach Archmage Xylem for his delivery, and save the Orgrimmar, Undercity and Thunder Bluff deliveries for your next city visit.
  13. Hand Rimtori’s head to Ag’tor, fly to Bloodvenom Post and start Felwood.

Alliance route. Bind in Astranaar. Talrendis Point has a flight master and nothing else, including sympathy.

  1. Collect Passing the Burden, Arcane Runes and Signal for Pickup in Ironforge before leaving the Eastern Kingdoms.
  2. Make sure the Standard Issue Flare Gun is in your bags, since the whole chain dies without it.
  3. Fly to Astranaar, bind there, fly to Forest Song and walk east to Talrendis Point.
  4. Learn the flight path from Jarrodenus and accept both Loh’atu quests.
  5. Clear Shadowsong Shrine and the Haldarr Encampment, then turn in.
  6. Follow the road toward the Ruins of Eldarath, cut northeast around the chasm and climb the north path to Kim’jael.
  7. Loot his four gadgets from crates at the Thalassian Base Camp and turn in Kim’jael Indeed!
  8. Descend to the Shattered Strand, collect Some Rune from naga and take Rubbing: Rune of Jin’yael, Rubbing: Rune of Beth’amara, Rubbing: Rune of Markri and Rubbing: Rune of Sael’hai in the ruins.
  9. Return the rune to Kim’jael.
  10. Use the flare gun on the landing pad of the small island off the southwest coast and turn in Arcane Runes to accept Return to Tymor.
  11. Hearth to Astranaar and head to Felwood for Timbermaw Ally and Cleansing Felwood.

Read this before you pay the repair bill. Azshara has no inn for either faction, so your hearthstone must already point somewhere useful. Gatekeeper Rageroar is a Timbermaw furbolg in the original data, and killing him costs reputation you will need for Winterspring. Magus Rimtori spawns at level 55 with a minion the moment you break the right crystal. Finally, repeated Blackmaw Hold clears give far less XP than its quests, so run it once properly instead of five times badly.

Elite and Group Quests: Do or Skip

Most Azshara leveling is solo. The exceptions are either a named caster with a pet, a trip to another continent or a raid pretending to be a quest.

QuestDifficultyVerdict
BetrayedMagus Rimtori, level 55, plus minionDo at 54 or duo at 53.

AzuregosWorld bossSkip unless forty friends are bored.

Class quests from Archmage Xylem and Ogtinc look short and then end in the Sunken Temple. Take them only if you plan that dungeon regardless.

Best Quest Rewards and Drops Worth Keeping

Azshara quests pay in XP, silver and reputation, not gear. Loh’atu hands out 50 and 70 silver, Stealing Knowledge gives 7350 XP before the deliveries, and Rimtori’s head buys 150 Orgrimmar reputation.

  • Hydraxian Waterlords reputation from Duke Hydraxis leads to Aqual Quintessence and, at Revered, the permanent Eternal Quintessence for Molten Core.
  • Timbermaw reputation from Felwood makes the furbolgs of northern Azshara ignore you, which keeps chests near them lootable.
  • Runecloth drops from the blood elves, satyrs and naga, and it feeds cloth turn ins in every capital.
  • Blackmaw Hold bosses follow the Forever rule of a guaranteed Rare drop per boss, and some bosses across Forever drop profession Blueprints.
  • Azuregos drops Typhoon, Fang of the Mystics, Puissant Cape, Leggings of Arcane Supremacy and Unmelting Ice Girdle, plus a guaranteed Ancient Sinew Wrapped Lamina for hunters.

If you pass through Felwood afterwards, keep a Cenarion Plant Salve for Songflower Serenade. It makes the walk back to Azshara slightly less humiliating.

Rares, Farm Spots and Azuregos

Gatekeeper RageroarFurbolg gate, northern AzsharaMostly to avoid killing him by accident.
Varo’then’s GhostShadowsong Shrine areaA lore cameo from Queen Azshara’s captain.

Magus RimtoriHer camp near the Thalassian Base CampQuest spawn, Horde reputation.
AzuregosSoutheast woods, patrol through /way 58, 77World boss loot and bragging.

WoW Forever Azuregos behaves like the original: neutral until you talk to him and choose violence. He is immune to arcane, reflects spells, teleports everyone nearby into his belly and freezes anyone he killed who returns too early.

  • The Ruins of Eldarath are the best cloth farm, because naga pull in tight groups and respawn fast.
  • The Thalassian Base Camp is quieter, with casters that drop cloth and die to interrupts.
  • The Haldarr Encampment suits melee, since satyrs hit softly and cluster near the road.
  • Northern furbolgs are only farmable if you enjoy tanking your own Timbermaw standing.

Blackmaw Hold: The Reason to Return at 55

WoW Forever Blackmaw Hold is a new level 55 to 60 dungeon behind the Azshara gate that never opened in the original game. Inside is a furbolg city fighting corruption, and its tunnels run toward a raid. That is the Azshara leveling payoff: the zone you left at 54 becomes a gearing stop.

Blizzard has also teased more Azshara later, including the unused crater. None of it is launch content, so do not plan a route around a rumor.

Azshara Lore in Two Minutes

This coast was the heart of the Highborne empire until the War of the Ancients dropped most of the capital into the sea. The Spitelash naga under Warlord Krellian now dig through Eldarath for artifacts, and blue dragons under Azuregos guard what the elves left behind.

The Horde story is pettier. Belgrom Rockmaul hired the blood elf Magus Rimtori, she killed the orcs sent with her, and Jediga got exiled to Valormok for refusing Belgrom, so she now sells Highborne tablets out of spite.

Forever adds the underground chapter. The WoW Forever Barrow Deeps are the night elves’ prison for their worst captives, including one famous demon hunter, and corruption is spreading through them. Blackmaw Hold is the back door, which says a lot about night elf security.

What level should I be to quest in Azshara?

Arrive around level 51 or 52, finish the core chains by 54, and come back at 55 for Blackmaw Hold.

Does Azshara have an inn?

No. Neither faction gets an innkeeper, so Horde should bind in Orgrimmar and Alliance in Astranaar before arriving.

Where is Blackmaw Hold?

Behind the long-sealed furbolg gate in northern Azshara. It is a level 55 to 60 dungeon.

Should I kill Gatekeeper Rageroar?

In the original data he is Timbermaw, so killing him costs reputation. Check his nameplate color first.

Can I fly around Azshara in Forever?

No. Forever has no flying mounts, so use Valormok or Talrendis Point flight masters and your own legs.
