WoW Forever Hunter Class Quests: Every Chain From 1 to 60
WoW Forever hunter class quests come in three tiers, and only the first one is optional in theory. At level 10 your race trainer hands you three taming rods and a trip to the capital, which buys you Tame Beast, Feed Pet, Revive Pet and Beast Training. At level 50 the Hunter’s Charm chain in Azshara ends inside The Temple of Atal’Hakkar with Devilsaur Eye. At level 60 an Ancient Petrified Leaf from Molten Core starts the chain for Rhok’delar, Longbow of the Ancient Keepers, which costs you an Onyxia kill and four demons murdered alone, pet dismissed, dignity optional.
Blizzard has not published a Forever class quest list for any class yet. Forever launches on November 4, 2026, beta opens September 17, and Wowhead’s Forever roadmap puts Onyxia’s Lair in the December 9 raid batch while Molten Core is not listed at all. This guide is built from the original chains Forever grows out of, with every Forever gap marked as a gap instead of filled with fiction.
Every Hunter Class Quest in Order
The full WoW Forever hunter quests list is short, because Blizzard front-loaded the pain into level 60. Race versions of the level 10 chain differ only in trainers and targets, so they share one row here.
Where Each Chain Starts: Questgivers and Coordinates
Coordinates below come from the original zone layouts. Forever revamps several classic zones, so treat every /way as a strong suggestion until beta maps confirm it. Where no coordinate could be verified, none is printed, because a wrong waypoint is worse than a vague one.
| Questgiver | Where | Waypoint | Used for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Thotar | Durotar, burrow in Razor Hill | /way 52 43 | Orc and Troll taming |
| Ormak Grimshot | Orgrimmar, Valley of Honor | Not verified | Orc and Troll turn-in |
| Yaw Sharpmane | Mulgore, Bloodhoof Village | /way 47 55 | Tauren taming |
| Holt Thunderhorn | Thunder Bluff, Hunter Rise | /way 57 88 | Tauren turn-in |
| Grif Wildheart | Dun Morogh, Kharanos | /way 52 51 | Dwarf taming |
| Belia Thundergranite | Ironforge, Military Ward | /way 71 86 | Dwarf turn-in |
| Dazalar | Teldrassil, Dolanaar | /way 56 59 | Night Elf taming |
| Jocaste | Darnassus, Cenarion Enclave | Not verified | Night Elf turn-in |
| Ogtinc | Azshara, cliffs above The Shattered Strand | /way 42 43 | Hunter’s Charm chain |
| Vartrus the Ancient | Felwood, Irontree Woods | /way 48 24 | Rhok’delar chain |
| Zanza the Restless | Inside Zul’Gurub | Instance | Falcon’s Call |
| Jin’rokh the Breaker | Yojamba Isle, Stranglethorn Vale | Not verified | Predator’s Belt |
| Kandrostrasz | Inside Ahn’Qiraj, past The Prophet Skeram | Instance | Striker’s Leggings |
Level 10: The Hunter Pet Quest Walkthrough
The WoW Forever hunter pet quest is the only class chain every Hunter must finish, because a Hunter without a pet at level 10 is a Rogue who forgot how to stealth. Each rod quest has you tame a local beast, dismiss it and report back. The third tame grants Tame Beast, and the capital turn-in grants the tools that stop your new pet from leaving you.
- Finish Training the Beast before taming a real pet, because an unfed pet with no Feed Pet runs away.
- You can only tame beasts at your level or lower.
- Your armor drops to zero while the tame channels, so the beast gets free hits.
- Drop a Freezing Trap first, turn on Aspect of the Monkey and open with Concussive Shot to survive the channel.
- Nobody may heal you during the tame, because losing the beast’s attention cancels it.
Orc and Troll
- Take The Hunter’s Path from a Hunter trainer and travel to Thotar in Razor Hill.
- Accept Taming the Beast and tame a Dire Mottled Boar anywhere in Durotar.
- Accept Taming the Beast and tame a Surf Crawler on the eastern shoreline.
- Accept Taming the Beast and tame an Armored Scorpid west of Razor Hill.
- Accept Training the Beast and deliver it to Ormak Grimshot in Orgrimmar.
Tauren
- Take The Hunter’s Path from a Hunter trainer and travel to Yaw Sharpmane in Bloodhoof Village.
- Accept Taming the Beast and tame an Adult Plainstrider around Bloodhoof Village.
- Accept Taming the Beast and tame a Prairie Stalker north of the village across the lake.
- Accept Taming the Beast and tame a Swoop north of the lake.
- Accept Training the Beast and deliver it to Holt Thunderhorn on Hunter Rise.
Dwarf
- Take The Hunter’s Path from a Hunter trainer and travel to Grif Wildheart in Kharanos.
- Accept Taming the Beast and tame a Large Crag Boar in the valley southeast of Kharanos.
- Accept Taming the Beast and tame a Snow Leopard toward the southern end of that valley.
- Accept Taming the Beast and tame an Ice Claw Bear east of Kharanos.
- Accept Training the Beast and deliver it to Belia Thundergranite in the Military Ward of Ironforge.
Night Elf
- Take The Hunter’s Path from a Hunter trainer and travel to Dazalar outside the Dolanaar inn.
- Accept Taming the Beast and tame a Webwood Lurker northeast of Dolanaar.
- Accept Taming the Beast and tame a Nightsaber Stalker southwest of Dolanaar.
- Accept Taming the Beast and tame a Strigid Screecher anywhere in Teldrassil.
- Accept Training the Beast and deliver it to Jocaste in the Cenarion Enclave.
Human and Skyborne
Human Hunter and Skyborne Hunter are brand new Forever combinations, and Skyborne Hunters exist on both factions. Blizzard has shown no trainer, taming target or turn-in for either. Until beta datamining says otherwise, assume the same three rods and a capital delivery, and do not trust anyone who already has coordinates.
| Requirement | Level 10 pet chain |
|---|---|
| Group size | Solo |
| Dungeons | None |
| Items | Taming rods, handed out by the trainer |
| Gold | None beyond the flight or the walk |
| Time | Under an hour if the beasts cooperate |
Level 50: The Hunter’s Charm and Devilsaur Eye
This is the chain people skip and then beg their guild for trinkets. The WoW Forever Devilsaur Eye is the prize, an on-use trinket worth 150 attack power for 20 seconds every 2 minutes in its original form. Forever has already re-itemized old rewards like the Mor’Ladim ring, so check the tooltip before you celebrate.
- Pick up The Hunter’s Charm from a Hunter trainer in any capital at level 50.
- Fly to Azshara and climb to Ogtinc on the cliffs northeast of the Ruins of Eldarath.
- Accept Courser Antlers and kill Mosshoof Courser in north and south Azshara until two Perfect Courser Antler drop.
- Accept Wavethrashing and collect six Wavethrasher Scales from the hydras on the far northeast and southeast shores.
- Accept The Green Drake, clear The Temple of Atal’Hakkar with a group and loot the Tooth of Morphaz from Morphaz.
- Return the tooth to Ogtinc and pick Devilsaur Eye unless you have a very specific reason not to.
| Requirement | Hunter’s Charm chain |
|---|---|
| Group size | Solo for Azshara, five players for the temple |
| Dungeons | The Temple of Atal’Hakkar |
| Items | Two antlers, six scales, one tooth |
| Gold | Travel only |
| Level | 50 to start, 52 for the dungeon step |
Level 60: Rhok’delar Quest Walkthrough
The WoW Forever Rhok’delar quest starts with an Ancient Petrified Leaf, a 50 percent drop from the Cache of the Firelord after Majordomo Executus in Molten Core. Molten Core is not on Wowhead’s Forever roadmap, and Onyxia only arrives on December 9, so the chain has a hard lock that no amount of grinding can open. Plan for it, do not pray for it.
- Loot the Ancient Petrified Leaf and accept The Ancient Leaf straight from the item.
- Travel to Irontree Woods in Felwood, climb the hill on the islet and speak to Vartrus the Ancient.
- Complete An Introduction to unlock quests from all three Ancients.
- Accept Stave of the Ancients from Vartrus the Ancient, A Proper String from Stoma the Ancient and Ancient Sinew Wrapped Lamina from Hastat the Ancient.
- Kill Onyxia in Onyxia’s Lair until Mature Black Dragon Sinew drops, which historically took several raids at roughly 30 percent.
- Get Mature Blue Dragon Sinew from Azuregos or the blue dragonkin of Mazthoril in Winterspring, and only if you want the quiver.
- Hunt the four disguised demons solo and loot each head.
- Turn everything in, use the Ancient Rune Etched Stave while holding the Enchanted Black Dragon Sinew and speak to Vartrus the Ancient again for Lok’delar, Stave of the Ancient Keepers.
Stave of the Ancients must be done completely alone. If your pet or any other player damages a demon, The Cleaner appears and kills everyone nearby. Buffs, potions and world buffs are allowed, help is not, so bring an escort only to pull stray mobs and scare off the other faction.
The Four Demons
| Demon | Disguise | Where | How it dies |
|---|---|---|---|
| Simone the Seductress | Simone the Inconspicuous | West lake of Un’Goro Crater, long patrol | Freeze her pet Precious, kite Simone away and keep Viper Sting on her |
| Klinfran the Crazed | Franklin the Friendly | Burning Steppes, south of Blackrock Mountain | Keep Scorpid Sting up and remove his frenzy with Tranquilizing Shot |
| Solenor the Slayer | Nelson the Nice | Silithus, near the gates of Ahn’Qiraj | Pull over Frost Trap, Feign Death to reset his enrage, then kite with Scatter Shot |
| Artorius the Doombringer | Artorius the Amiable | Northern Winterspring | Stay past 30 yards, kite with Aspect of the Cheetah and let Serpent Sting tick |
- Every demon hides as a neutral humanoid, and Track Demons is how you find the ones with long patrols.
- An Elixir of Demonslaying helps in all four fights.
- Simone reduces your ranged attack power, so a decent melee weapon with a demonslaying enchant saves that fight.
- Solenor’s Wing Clip root makes him summon beetles and cast fear, so only root him when you can handle both.
- Artorius punishes anyone within 30 yards with a heavy shadow debuff, so mana potions matter more than damage.
| Requirement | Rhok’delar chain |
|---|---|
| Group size | A full raid for Molten Core and Onyxia, nobody for the demons |
| Raids | Molten Core and Onyxia’s Lair |
| Items | Ancient Petrified Leaf, Mature Black Dragon Sinew, four demon heads, optional Mature Blue Dragon Sinew |
| Gold | Consumables, plus the blue sinew if you buy it instead of farming |
| Lockout | Molten Core availability in Forever is unannounced |
Raid Class Quests at 60
Zul’Gurub and Ahn’Qiraj are not named anywhere on the Forever roadmap either, so treat these as future homework. Falcon’s Call needs Friendly with the Zandalar Tribe, a Primal Hakkari Idol and the Hunter Punctured Voodoo Doll, and pays a head or leg enchant with ranged attack power, stamina and 1 percent hit.
- Paragons of Power: The Predator’s Belt needs Honored with the Zandalar Tribe and a Primal Hakkari Shawl.
- Striker’s Leggings needs Friendly with the Brood of Nozdormu and a Skin of the Great Sandworm from Ouro.
- The same leggings also eat two Idol of the Sun, five Silver Scarab and five Bone Scarab.
- Zandalar bracers and shoulders exist for Hunters too, and they use different Primal Hakkari tokens.
Which Rewards Still Matter at 60
Old chains, old questgivers and old rewards still carry the class, and the WoW Forever hunter epic bow is the reason. In Classic, Rhok’delar held the best ranged slot through the first two raid phases. Forever has promised new tier sets and new raid loot, so expect the bow to age faster this time.
| Reward | What it does | Still good at 60 |
|---|---|---|
| Tame Beast and pet spells | Turns you into an actual Hunter | Forever |
| Devilsaur Eye | On-use attack power burst | Yes, well into raids |
| Rhok’delar, Longbow of the Ancient Keepers | Epic Hunter-only bow | Yes, until raid bows replace it |
| Lok’delar, Stave of the Ancient Keepers | Staff with attack power against demons and nature resistance | Situational |
| Ancient Sinew Wrapped Lamina | Epic quiver | Yes, for a long time |
| Falcon’s Call | Ranged attack power, stamina, hit | Yes |
| Zandalar Predator’s Belt | Hunter belt from Zul’Gurub | Until tier gear |
| Striker’s Leggings | Tier 2.5 legs | Yes |
What You Lose by Skipping
- Skipping the level 10 chain means no pet, no pet spells and a class that simply does not work.
- Skipping the Hunter’s Charm chain costs you Devilsaur Eye, which no dungeon drop replaces at that level.
- Skipping Rhok’delar costs you the bow, the staff and a quiver that outlives most of your gear.
- Skipping the demons also costs you the only proof that you can actually kite.
- Skipping Zandalar and Brood of Nozdormu turn-ins costs you raid-quality slots that nobody will hand you for free.
What Forever Changes for Hunters
This World of Warcraft Forever hunter guide treats every Forever class change as pre-release, because Blizzard itself calls the BlizzCon build subject to change. The reported changes still matter for class quests, since several of them rewrite how the solo demon fights and your early leveling will feel.
- Aimed Shot is reported as a baseline ability, so Marksmanship no longer owns it.
- Survival leans hard into melee, with more support for Mongoose Bite and melee stats.
- Community sims list Sniper Shot and a Summon Hawk ability in the Forever Hunter kit.
- Ranged weapon skill is gone, so swapping to a freshly earned bow costs you nothing.
- The Talented Legacy perk starts talent points at level 9 once your account unlocks it.
- Human Hunter and Skyborne Hunter are confirmed, with their pet chains still unpublished.
The WoW Forever Lone Wolf hunter build trades the pet for a personal damage bonus. If it survives beta, Stave of the Ancients stops being a punishment and becomes your default playstyle with extra paperwork.
For WoW Forever hunter leveling, the pet chain is still the first real power spike, and the level 9 talent perk makes the gap to 10 feel shorter. Forever also adds new zones and dungeons, so the old routes to Azshara at 50 may not be the fastest ones anymore.
Players who spent years asking for Classic Plus hunter quests got a game that keeps the old chains and wraps them in new systems. What they did not get yet is a published list of new Hunter-only quests, so anything claiming otherwise before beta is guesswork.
Lore Behind the Chains
The three Ancients of Lore in Irontree Woods, Vartrus the Ancient, Stoma the Ancient and Hastat the Ancient, were petrified when the Burning Legion corrupted Felwood. Their bodies are stone, their spirits are not, and the leaf you pull out of Majordomo’s cache is Vartrus’s own. The deal is simple: you avenge them on four Legion agents hiding across Azeroth, they grow you a bow nobody has seen in ten thousand years.
Ogtinc is a furbolg Hunter who left his tribe to serve the Cenarion Circle. His charm quest is a lesson in balance, which is why the last step forces you into a group to kill Morphaz, a green drake lurking deep in the Sunken Temple.
The level 10 chains carry racial flavor too. Tauren taming is framed as a path closer to the Earthmother through the spirits of beasts, while Grif Wildheart in Kharanos has spent two decades being mistaken for the dwarf from the original cinematic.
When do Hunters get their first pet in WoW Forever?
At level 10, after three taming rod quests from your race trainer and a Training the Beast capital turn-in.
Can you get Rhok’delar at WoW Forever launch?
Not realistically, because the chain starts in Molten Core, and that raid is missing from the published Forever roadmap.
Do I need a group for Stave of the Ancients?
Only for Molten Core and Onyxia, since the four demons must die solo and any help or pet resets them.
Is the Hunter’s Charm chain worth doing?
Yes, because Devilsaur Eye is a strong on-use trinket and the chain only needs one Sunken Temple run.
Do Human and Skyborne Hunters have their own taming quests?
Blizzard has not published them yet, so both combinations have confirmed classes but no confirmed trainers or taming targets.
