World of Warcraft Forever Leveling Guide 1-60
Same ceiling, more places to die in. A working WoW Forever leveling guide keeps the old shape: clear zones in bracket order, enter dungeons only with quests already stacked, and abandon a zone the moment its quest log dries up. Forever adds four zones, nine dungeons and over a thousand quests on top of that skeleton. The skeleton does not move.
World of Warcraft: Forever was announced at BlizzCon on 12 September 2026. Beta opens 17 September 2026 and the WoW Forever release date is 4 November 2026. Keep that in mind while reading, because nothing below has been played at scale by anybody, including the people writing about it.
What Changed and What Did Not
| Thing | Forever | Classic |
|---|---|---|
| Level cap | 60, held indefinitely | 60 |
| New zones | Four, plus expanded originals | None |
| New dungeons | Nine, spread across 13 to 60 | None |
| New raids | Barrow Deeps for 10, Hyjal Summit for 20 | None |
| New quests | Over 1,000 across the whole 1-60 range | None |
| Playable races | Original roster plus Skyborne | Original roster |
| Race and class combos | Six new pairings | Original pairings |
| Visuals | New lighting, global illumination, volumetrics, SD and HD toggle | Original art |
| Continuity | Separate timeline from modern WoW | Vanilla timeline |
The WoW Forever level cap stays at 60 with no expansion treadmill behind it, which is the entire pitch. Nobody is going to invalidate your gear in eighteen months by shipping a new continent with level 70 on it.
In the WoW Forever vs Classic comparison the honest summary is this: it is vanilla with the gaps filled in. Old zones remain, old dungeons remain, and the pacing philosophy remains. The difference is that the empty corners of the map now have content in them.
The Route, Bracket by Bracket
The WoW Forever 1-60 route below is built on Classic zone data, because Forever quest data is not public and will not be until beta clients get datamined. Original zones and their level bands are carried over. New content slots in where Blizzard has stated a level range and nowhere else.
| Levels | Where to be | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 1-10 | Racial starting zone, or Zephras Isle for Skyborne | Dense quests, no travel, nothing to decide. |
| 10-20 | Westfall, Loch Modan, Darkshore, The Barrens, Silverpine Forest | Two new dungeons now sit inside this bracket. |
| 20-30 | Ashenvale, Hillsbrad Foothills, Stonetalon Mountains, Wetlands, Thousand Needles | The first grind wall, and where hub loops start earning. |
| 30-40 | Arathi Highlands, Stranglethorn Vale, Alterac Mountains, Desolace, Dustwallow Marsh | Alterac stops being a corridor now that Dalaran is open. |
| 40-50 | Tanaris, Feralas, Badlands, The Hinterlands, Searing Gorge, Riverglades | Mount speed finally makes these distances survivable. |
| 50-60 | Un’Goro Crater, Felwood, Western Plaguelands, Eastern Plaguelands, Winterspring, Burning Steppes, Azshara | Azshara gets a dungeon, so it stops being a dead zone. |
Run two zones in parallel from level 45 onward. Quest density in the old world collapses in the fifties, and even a thousand new quests spread across sixty levels will not make any single zone self-sufficient.
The New Zones
Four WoW Forever new zones have been confirmed, plus a reopened Dalaran. Level ranges for the zones themselves have not been published, so treat the placements below as inference from the dungeons sitting inside them.
- Zephras Isle is the Skyborne starting experience and requires one of the paid packs.
- Riverglades holds a dungeon tuned for levels 40 to 55, so expect a broad mid to late band.
- Shen’dralas has been shown in screenshots with no level information attached whatsoever.
- Mount Hyjal hosts a twenty player raid, which puts it at or near the level cap.
- Dalaran opens inside Alterac Mountains and brings a dungeon for levels 28 to 33.
New Dungeons by Level
The WoW Forever new dungeons are the one part of this announcement with hard numbers attached. Nine of them, covering the entire climb, which means the old dead spots at 25 and at 45 finally have something in them.
| Dungeon | Location | Levels |
|---|---|---|
| Hall of Thanes | Ironforge | 13-18 |
| Ruins of Lordaeron | Undercity | 15-20 |
| Wetlands Dig Site | Wetlands | 24-29 |
| Dalaran | Alterac Mountains | 28-33 |
| The Drowned City | Stranglethorn Vale | 35-40 |
| Krol’dok Stronghold | Riverglades | 40-55 |
| Alcaz Prison | Dustwallow Marsh | 48-53 |
| Blackmaw Hold | Azshara | 55-60 |
| Shaper’s Terrace | Un’Goro Crater | 58-60 |
A published level range is not a promise about experience per hour. Krol’dok Stronghold spans fifteen levels on paper, which historically means the bottom of that range exists so you can be carried through it, not so you can clear it. Bring quests or bring nothing.
Old Dungeons Still Worth Running
- Razorfen Kraul covers the low thirties and sits directly on the road.
- Scarlet Monastery still carries the mid thirties through the mid forties by itself.
- Uldaman is long and ugly and worth exactly one visit for the chain.
- Zul’Farrak remains the densest experience dump in the forties.
- Maraudon pays well and punishes anyone who walked in without the quests.
- Blackrock Depths will take you from the mid fifties to sixty on its own.
Quest Hub Discipline
Collect five or six quests from one hub, clear them in one loop, hand the stack in together. Everything below exists to protect that loop from your own curiosity.
- Accept every quest a hub offers before you kill anything.
- Abandon any quest whose objective sits more than one zone away.
- Sell grey items only when the bags are genuinely full.
- Skip green upgrades that require a dedicated trip to a vendor.
- Leave a zone once its remaining quests are five levels beneath you.
- Take every flight path you physically walk past, without exception.
Rested Experience and Downtime
Assuming Forever inherits the Classic rules, rested experience doubles the experience from kills until the blue bar empties. One bubble accrues per eight hours resting in an inn or capital and four times slower in the open world, and the bar caps at thirty bubbles, which is a level and a half of free progress. Quest rewards and exploration do not consume it, so turn-ins are always safe.
Downtime is the quieter tax. Train First Aid at level five and keep it current, train Cooking so every beast you kill turns into regeneration, and stop sitting down to drink when a bandage does the job while you keep walking.
The Level 40 Gold Wall
Classic pricing is the only pricing anyone can quote right now, and Blizzard has announced no change to it. Start banking at level 30, because arriving at 40 with twelve gold is a self-inflicted injury.
| Purchase | Cost |
|---|---|
| Riding skill at 40 | 20 gold |
| Mount at 40, 60 percent speed | 80 gold |
| Total at 40, no discounts | 100 gold |
| Total at Honored with your own race | 90 gold |
| Epic mount at 60, 100 percent speed | 1000 gold |
Races, Classes and the Skyborne
The WoW Forever Skyborne race is neutral, available to both factions, and locked behind the Skyborne Heroic or Epic pack along with the Zephras Isle starting zone. Horde Skyborne get Shaman, Alliance Skyborne get Mage. Everything else in the game is included with active game time.
The WoW Forever new race class combos are six additions to the original grid, and they exist because somebody at Blizzard finally admitted the vanilla restrictions were arbitrary.
- Dwarf Shaman.
- Gnome Priest.
- Human Hunter.
- Orc Mage.
- Troll Warlock.
- Undead Paladin.
Pick whichever of these you actually want to play for two hundred hours. A class you understand beats a class somebody recommended in chat, and new talents mean every old tier list is now worthless anyway.
Mistakes That Cost Days
- Grinding mobs in a zone that still has unfinished quests sitting in it.
- Forgetting your Hearthstone is on cooldown while standing three zones from the turn-in.
- Corpse running past the same patrol four times instead of waiting ten seconds.
- Ignoring the Swiftness Potion stack that turns a fatal escape into a survivable one.
- Detouring into a new dungeon at the bottom of its level range without a group that outlevels it.
- Rerolling at level 34 because a new race and class combination looked interesting.
What Nobody Knows Yet
The WoW Forever beta opens on 17 September 2026, and that is when guesswork becomes data. Until then these are open questions, and anyone answering them confidently is inventing.
- Whether the experience curve has been retuned around the extra thousand quests.
- What the Camping system actually does to rested experience and downtime.
- What the Legacy system rewards and whether it touches leveling at all.
- Level ranges for the new zones as opposed to the dungeons inside them.
- Whether mount costs, training costs or profession caps have moved.
- Which original zones were expanded and how heavily.
When does World of Warcraft Forever release?
Forever launches 4 November 2026, with beta access from 17 September 2026 for Skyborne Epic Pack owners.
Does Forever raise the level cap?
No, the cap stays at level 60 indefinitely, which is the stated design principle behind the entire project.
How many new dungeons does Forever add?
Nine new dungeons spread from level 13 to level 60, plus two raids sized for ten and twenty players.
Do I need to buy anything to play Forever?
No, active game time covers everything except the Skyborne race, which requires the Heroic or Epic pack.
Is the old Classic leveling route still valid?
Mostly yes, since the original zones remain, though a thousand new quests will reshape density in every bracket.
