WoW Forever Stormpike Guard Reputation Guide: Fastest Route to Exalted
Exalted with the Stormpike Guard comes from exactly one place, and that place is Alterac Valley. This WoW Forever Stormpike Guard reputation guide gives you the short version: win the battleground, hand three Alterac Valley Mark of Honor to a quartermaster for 100 reputation, clear the one-time quest set once for roughly 900, then dump Armor Scraps, Storm Crystal and enemy medals into the turn-in NPCs every match. Neutral to Exalted is 42,000 reputation. A clean win with objectives pays 700 to 900, so budget about fifty wins and a personality change.
World of Warcraft Forever keeps the cap at level 60 permanently, and Alterac Valley comes back with it, which means this reputation bar is no longer a phase you outlive. Blizzard has not published Forever-specific battleground numbers, so every figure here is the shipped Classic dataset. If a coefficient moves in testing, the route stays identical and only the hours change.
Unlocking the faction and finding the quartermaster
There is no unlock quest. The Stormpike Guard is Alliance only, and your bar starts ticking the second you zone into WoW Forever Alterac Valley. Queue from level 51 either at the battleground entrance in The Headlands, in the southern part of Alterac Mountains directly north of Southshore, or from any Battlemaster in a capital city.
Two quartermasters carry identical stock. Thanthaldis Snowgleam stands at the outdoor camp in Alterac Mountains, and Gaelden Hammersmith sits in Dun Baldar inside the battleground. There is no flight path to The Headlands. The nearest one is Southshore in Hillsbrad Foothills, and the rest is a ride uphill in the snow, which is thematically appropriate.
Do not confuse the vendors with Stormpike Quartermaster inside the instance. That one takes mine supplies and sells you nothing at all.
How Stormpike reputation actually ticks
Kill reputation inside the battleground is shared across the whole raid the moment it happens, party or not. That is the single most misunderstood rule in the zone, and it is why standing in a tunnel doing nothing still moves your bar.
| Source | Reputation |
|---|---|
| Killing Drek’Thar, the Horde General | 389 |
| Killing Captain Galvangar | 125 |
| Killing Lokholar the Ice Lord | 125 |
| Killing a Horde Commander | 12 each |
| Killing a Horde Air Master | 5 each |
| Killing a Horde Guard | 5 each, stops paying at Honored |
| Killing a Horde player | 1 each |
The second block lands only when the match ends, and only for objectives you still hold. Losing a tower back in the final minute deletes reputation you thought you had banked.
| End of match condition | Reputation |
|---|---|
| Drek’Thar dead | 36 |
| Captain Balinda Stonehearth still alive | 125 |
| Each enemy tower destroyed | 24 |
| Each enemy commander killed | 12 |
| Each bunker held or intact | 12 |
| Each graveyard held | 12 |
| Each mine held | 12 |
Reputation and honor are separate currencies that happen to share a grind, so the same fifty matches also feed WoW Forever PvP honor ranks. Nobody has published the reworked rank thresholds yet, which is a polite way of saying plan for the worst.
Fastest route to Exalted
- Complete The Quartermaster for 10 reputation because it takes eleven seconds.
- Win one match and turn in The Battle of Alterac for 200 reputation.
- Take the follow-up Hero of the Stormpike and pick a rare weapon you will use for months.
- Clear Alterac Valley Graveyards, Towers and Bunkers and Capture a Mine for 100 reputation each, one time only.
- Start the insignia chain with Proving Grounds for 100 reputation and a teleport trinket that saves you thousands of steps.
- Turn in three Alterac Valley Marks of Honor every single time you have them, for 100 reputation per set and 110 if you are Human.
- Run Concerted Efforts whenever you hold marks from all three battlegrounds, for 200 the first time and 150 after.
- Loot Armor Scraps off literally everything and turn them in during every match you expect to last.
- Collect the insignia upgrade quest at each new standing the moment it unlocks, since each one pays 100 to 200 reputation.
- Kill the enemy General rather than farming the field, because 389 shared reputation beats 1 per player corpse forever.
Turn-in caps existed in the original design to stop loot hoarding, so bank items across matches rather than hoping for one heroic session. The WoW Forever beta is the correct place to confirm whether those caps survived, and the wrong place to assume they did not.
Turn-in items and where to farm them
| Item | Where it drops | Reputation | What it unlocks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Armor Scraps | Nearly every creature and player in the zone | 1 per 20 items | 500 per troop upgrade at Murgot Deepforge, 1500 for all three |
| Storm Crystal | Horde players and troops | 1 per item | 200 summons Ivus the Forest Lord via Arch Druid Renferal |
| Frostwolf Hide | Frostwolves in the southern valley | 2 per item | 25 completes Ram Riding Harnesses for cavalry |
| Alterac Ram captured alive | Roaming rams near Dun Baldar | 1 per ram | 25 fills the stables via Empty Stables |
| Irondeep Supplies | Irondeep Mine in the north | Match objective | 280 starts a ground assault |
| Coldtooth Supplies | Coldtooth Mine in the south | Match objective | 70 starts a ground assault, the cheap option |
| Frostwolf Soldier’s Medal | Horde players and troops | 1 per item | 120 for Slidore’s Beacon |
| Frostwolf Lieutenant’s Medal | Horde players and troops | 2 per item | 60 for Vipore’s Beacon |
| Frostwolf Commander’s Medal | Horde players and troops | 5 per item | 30 for Ichman’s Beacon |
Medals are worthless until the Wing Commanders are rescued, so Fallen Sky Lords is not optional busywork. Wing Commander Slidore, Wing Commander Vipore and Wing Commander Ichman each have to survive the run home before they will take anything from you. Every one of these items evaporates when you leave the instance, which is the part of WoW Forever Classic Plus design nobody warns new players about.
Honored is a wall, not a milestone. Below Honored you cannot activate ground assaults, cavalry or upgraded troops, and below Revered you cannot call an air strike at all. Guard kills also stop paying reputation the moment you hit Honored. The grind is tuned so that the exact point it stops being interesting is the point it starts being slower.
Rewards by standing
Both quartermasters sell the same list, and the WoW Forever reputation rewards ladder is front-loaded with consumables and back-loaded with gear worth the suffering. Everything below is bought with gold plus Alterac Valley Marks of Honor, not with reputation itself. Reputation only opens the shelf.

The Stormpike Insignia ladder
One trinket upgrades six times, and each upgrade is a free reputation payout attached to a teleport back to Dun Baldar. Skipping this chain is the most common way players add two weeks to their own grind.
| Trinket | Quest | Requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Stormpike Insignia Rank 1 | Proving Grounds | Loot the Stormpike Banner in Icewing Caverns |
| Stormpike Insignia Rank 2 | Rise and Be Recognized | Friendly |
| Stormpike Insignia Rank 3 | Honored Amongst the Guard | Honored |
| Stormpike Insignia Rank 4 | Earned Reverence | Revered |
| Stormpike Insignia Rank 5 | Legendary Heroes | Exalted |
| Stormpike Insignia Rank 6 | The Eye of Command | Exalted at 999 out of 1000 |
That last row is the trap. Exalted is not the end, because Rank 6 needs you to grind almost the entire Exalted bar afterwards, while several reputation sources have already stopped paying you. Somebody designed that on purpose.
BiS rewards and which class wants them
The Exalted shelf is the reason anyone tolerates this faction. Several pieces outlast early raid drops, which makes the WoW Forever exalted mount the least valuable thing on the list despite being the one everyone talks about.
| Item | Who wants it | Why |
|---|---|---|
| The Unstoppable Force | Arms Warriors, Retribution Paladins | Two handed mace with crit and a stun proc, competitive well past pre-raid |
| The Immovable Object | Protection Warriors | Block value shield that holds up until deep raid progression |
| Don Julio’s Band | Warriors, Rogues, Hunters, Feral Druids | Crit, hit and attack power on one ring, rare on a single item |
| Don Rodrigo’s Band | Mages, Warlocks, Shadow Priests | Spell crit and spell penetration, useful the moment PvP starts |
| The Lobotomizer | Rogues | Off hand dagger with a proc that punishes casters |
| Lei of the Lifegiver | Priests, Paladins, Restoration Druids, Restoration Shamans | Healing power and mana regeneration in the off hand slot |
| Tome of the Ice Lord | Frost Mages | School specific damage that beats generic off hands |
| Tome of Fiery Arcana | Fire Mages | Same logic, different school |
| Tome of Shadow Force | Shadow Priests, Affliction Warlocks | Shadow damage with stamina attached |
| Ice Barbed Spear | Hunters, Warriors | Free rare polearm from Hero of the Stormpike |
| Bloodseeker | Hunters | The crossbow option from the same quest |
| Wand of Biting Cold | Mages, Warlocks, Priests | The caster option from the same quest |
| Cold Forged Hammer | Paladins, Shamans | The one handed mace option from the same quest |
| Harpy Hide Quiver | Hunters | 15 percent ranged attack speed, a direct damage increase |
| Stormpike Battle Charger | Anyone without a race mount | Epic speed with no Ram Riding skill requirement |
What Stormpike reputation gates
- Honored is required before any player can activate upgraded troops, ground assaults or the ram cavalry.
- Revered is required before a Wing Commander will hand you a beacon for an air strike.
- Exalted opens the entire off hand and ring shelf, which is the actual raid preparation payoff.
- Exalted is the only way to buy an epic mount that ignores the Ram Riding requirement.
- Full Exalted at 999 out of 1000 is the sole source of Stormpike Insignia Rank 6.
- No dungeon attunement, raid lockout or profession recipe is gated behind this faction, whatever the forums told you.
The WoW Forever Legacy system changes the calculus. Maximizing reputations is one of the account-wide challenge categories, so Exalted now pays a permanent account perk on top of the gear, and every alt you roll inherits the benefit. Grinding this faction once has finally stopped being a personal problem and become an investment.
One-time quests worth collecting
- The Sovereign Imperative is the Stormpike intro chain and pays a solid block of reputation.
- Brotherly Love asks you to kill a commander who happens to be somebody brother.
- Defusing the Threat clears land mines and pays better than it sounds.
- Armor Scraps is the first turn-in and also a one-time reputation award.
- More Armor Scraps is the repeatable version you will run forever.
- Ivus the Forest Lord is the Storm Crystal turn-in that summons your faction boss.
- Invaders of Alterac Valley is the outside-the-zone mark turn-in most players never find.
- Zinfizzlex’s Portable Shredder Unit pays 25 reputation and exists mostly to disappoint you.
Turning in scraps also grants Polished Armor, a 10 percent armor buff for thirty minutes, and pushes your General to periodically buff the raid damage by 10, 20 or 30 percent depending on the upgrade tier. That buff is worth more than most of the gear on this page.
Lore, briefly
The Stormpike Guard are dwarves of the Stormpike clan, sent into Alterac Valley to dig up relics of their own past under a mandate from King Magni Bronzebeard of Ironforge. Vanndar Stormpike commands from Dun Baldar in the north, with Captain Balinda Stonehearth holding Stonehearth Outpost to the south.
The valley already had residents. The Frostwolf orcs were exiled there for refusing demon blood, and they treat a dwarven mining expedition exactly the way you would expect. The Alliance calls it archaeology, the Horde calls it invasion, and both sides have spent twenty two years settling it by killing each other next to a mine cart. The WoW Forever release date of November 4, 2026 simply means it starts again with better fog.
Mistakes that cost you weeks
- Farming enemy players for 1 reputation each while the General sits unkilled for 389.
- Losing towers back before the match ends and deleting reputation you already counted.
- Hoarding Armor Scraps into a bag that empties the second you leave the instance.
- Skipping the insignia chain and losing roughly 750 reputation plus a free teleport.
- Farming medals before the Wing Commanders are rescued, which makes them unturnable.
- Turning in three marks on a character who could have waited and run Concerted Efforts instead.
- Assuming Exalted is the finish line when Rank 6 needs almost another full bar afterwards.
How long does Exalted with the Stormpike Guard take?
Roughly fifty clean wins with objectives and turn-ins, since 42,000 reputation at 700 to 900 per match adds up slowly.
Can I earn Stormpike Guard reputation outside Alterac Valley?
Only through Concerted Efforts, which needs marks from Warsong Gulch and Arathi Basin as well as Alterac Valley.
Does killing guards still give reputation at Revered?
No, guard kills stop paying at Honored, so the grind deliberately slows down exactly when you need speed most.
Is the Stormpike Battle Charger worth the Exalted grind?
It ignores the Ram Riding requirement and costs far less than an epic mount, but the rings matter more.
What is the hardest reward to finish?
Stormpike Insignia Rank 6, because it needs 999 out of 1000 Exalted after several reputation sources have already dried up.
