Thunder Bluff Reputation Guide for WoW Forever

WoW Forever Thunder Bluff reputation has one payoff and one payoff only: kodo mounts for everyone who was not born tauren. From where a fresh Horde character starts, Friendly at 0 out of 6000, Exalted is 39,000 reputation away. Quest reputation runs out long before that, so the rest is cloth handed to Rumstag Proudstrider on the Middle Rise, twenty Runecloth at a time, fifty reputation at a time.

Read that number again before anyone sells you a World of Warcraft Forever reputation guide that promises a weekend. Fifty reputation per turn-in means 768 turn-ins if you do nothing else. The tauren do not care. They have been waiting for the Horde to prove itself since the centaur wars and they are willing to wait for you too.

How to unlock the faction

There is nothing to unlock. Thunder Bluff sits in your reputation panel from the moment you log in, already at Friendly, because the Horde does not make its own members earn the right to walk into Thunder Bluff. Tauren players can stop reading here unless they collect standings for sport, since kodos are theirs at any reputation level.

The grind exists for orcs, trolls, forsaken and every other Horde body that wants to sit on something enormous. That is the whole contract.

The quartermaster and where he stands

Your WoW Forever Thunder Bluff quartermaster is Rumstag Proudstrider, and calling him a quartermaster is generous. He stands on the Middle Rise, inside the building with the armor merchants, beside the leatherworking trainers. He sells nothing. He takes cloth and he says thank you.

The mounts are not in the city at all. Harb Clawhoof keeps the kodo pen in Bloodhoof Village, Mulgore, around 47, 58, down the elevator and south. Plan the trip once, at Exalted, and buy everything in a single visit.

Cloth turn-ins and the real numbers

The WoW Forever Runecloth turn-in is the only faucet that never closes. Four donation quests are one time each and pay 150 reputation apiece, which is 600 reputation total, which is nothing. After the fourth, Rumstag offers Additional Runecloth forever at twenty cloth for fifty reputation.

QuestLevelCostReputation
A Donation of Wool1260 Wool Cloth150
A Donation of Silk2660 Silk Cloth150
A Donation of Mageweave4060 Mageweave Cloth150
A Donation of Runecloth5060 Runecloth150
Additional Runecloth5020 Runecloth50, repeatable

The three lower donations must be handed in before Runecloth is offered, in any order. They are also per city, so nothing you gave Orgrimmar counts here. Doing the entire 39,000 on cloth alone costs 15,360 Runecloth. Doing only the last stretch, Revered to Exalted, costs 8,400.

Where to farm the cloth

  • Wool Cloth drops from the humanoids of Silverpine Forest, Hillsbrad and the northern Barrens while you are levelling through them anyway.
  • Silk Cloth comes off any humanoid in the thirties, with Scarlet Monastery being the fastest concentrated source.
  • Mageweave Cloth farms best in Zul’Farrak and the Sunken Temple, both of which you will run for other reasons.
  • Runecloth drops from every level fifty plus humanoid, and Stratholme, Scholomance and Dire Maul North are the standard routes.
  • Winterfall Village in Winterspring is the open world option for players who would rather not queue for anything.
  • Tailors should stop crafting bandages out of habit, because every bolt burned is reputation deleted.

Do the four one-time donations the moment each one unlocks, at level 12, 26, 40 and 50. They pay the same 150 whether you hand them in at level 12 or at level 60, and until the fourth one is done the repeatable does not exist. Players who save all their cloth for sixty are not being efficient, they are just starting the timer later.

Morrowgrain, the second faucet

Bashana Runetotem on Elder Rise starts Morrowgrain Research and then repeats it as Morrowgrain to Thunder Bluff. Ten Morrowgrain pays 75 reputation, which is the best rate in the guide, and a Cenarion Circle Cache on top.

The catch is the growing. You buy an Evergreen Pouch from Bashana, feed it a Packet of Tharlendris Seeds and two Un’Goro Soil samples, and it returns Morrowgrain some of the time and junk herbs the rest. Soil comes from dirt piles and mob drops across Un’Goro Crater. Herbalism above 150 improves the odds. Nobody reaches Exalted on this alone, but every ten grains is fifty Runecloth you did not have to farm.

The egg turn-ins in Tanaris

Curgle Cranklehop in Gadgetzan takes hippogryph eggs looted in Feralas. An Ordinary Egg and An Extraordinary Egg each pay ten reputation, repeatable, and they also feed Darnassus, which is somebody else’s problem.

Ten reputation. Read it as the flavour text it is, do it while you are in Feralas, and do not build a farming route around it.

Mob grinds do not exist here

This is the part of the WoW Forever Horde reputation grind that people refuse to accept. No mob anywhere in Azeroth awards Thunder Bluff reputation on death. There is no tabard that converts dungeon damage into standing, because tabard championing is not a thing in this flavour of the game. Quests, cloth, grain, eggs. That is the complete list.

Fastest route to Exalted

Getting WoW Forever Exalted with the tauren is a levelling decision, not an endgame project. Quest reputation is finite and outlevelling a quest deletes its reputation permanently, so the cheap path only exists while you are still climbing.

  1. Clear every quest in Mulgore and inside the city itself, including the ones that look like tauren-only flavour, because the WoW Forever Mulgore quests are the densest block of free reputation in the game.
  2. Run the southern Barrens and Thousand Needles at level instead of skipping to Stranglethorn, since both zones are packed with tauren-flagged turn-ins.
  3. Hand in the Wool donation at 12, the Silk at 26, the Mageweave at 40 and the Runecloth at 50, on schedule.
  4. Do Stonetalon Mountains, Desolace and Feralas in their level bands and loot every hippogryph egg you walk past.
  5. Pick up Morrowgrain Research the first time you enter Un’Goro Crater and keep the pouch on cooldown from then on.
  6. Arrive at sixty somewhere around Revered, then close the last 21,000 with 420 Runecloth turn-ins while you raid.

Rewards by standing

StandingWhat you get
FriendlyPermission to keep donating cloth
Honored10 percent discount at Thunder Bluff vendors
Revered15 percent discount at Thunder Bluff vendors
Exalted20 percent discount and kodo mounts for non tauren

That is the entire reward table. No gear, no cloaks, no trinket, no recipe. The discount is real money on an epic mount, and it stacks with the old PvP rank discount, which is the only reason Honored matters at all.

Kodos, prices and who can buy them

Every WoW Forever kodo mount comes from Harb Clawhoof and nowhere else. The 60 percent kodos need level 40 and Apprentice Riding and run about 80 gold before discounts. The armoured ones need level 60 and Journeyman Riding and cost roughly 1,000 gold, which is the actual gate, not the reputation.

  • Gray Kodo is the 60 percent mount most players end up on by default.
  • Brown Kodo is the same animal in a different colour for the same price.
  • Great Brown Kodo is the armoured 100 percent version and the cheapest thing to look at.
  • Great Gray Kodo is the herd leader model and the most common epic pick.
  • Great White Kodo is the albino, the one everybody actually farmed the cloth for.

BiS rewards and which class wants them

None. There is no best in slot item behind this faction for any class, spec or phase. Warriors get nothing, priests get nothing, druids get nothing extra for being thematically adjacent to tauren. If a list tells you Thunder Bluff is a gear faction, that list was written for a different game.

The closest thing to a reward with stats is the Cenarion Circle Cache from the Morrowgrain hand-ins, and it holds consumables you would have bought anyway.

What Thunder Bluff gates

  • Mounts are gated, and that is the one genuine lock on the faction.
  • No raid attunement in Forever routes through tauren reputation.
  • No profession recipe is sold at any standing with the city.
  • No dungeon key, quest chain or zone access checks this bar.
  • Vendor discounts apply only to Thunder Bluff merchants, not to Orgrimmar or the neutral cities.

Lore, briefly

The tauren were nomads losing a long war to the centaur until Thrall’s orcs arrived and the two peoples won Mulgore together. Cairne Bloodhoof built the city on four mesas so the herd would finally have ground nobody could take, and he is very much alive in this timeline, which is the entire point of World of Warcraft Forever as Blizzard’s Classic Plus branch.

That history is also why the reputation works the way it does. You do not impress the tauren with kill counts. You bring them supplies for a city that was built out of nothing, over and over, until they decide you are herd. For anyone still checking the WoW Forever release date, the project opened on 4 November 2026, and the cloth has been going up those elevators ever since.
