WoW Forever Undead Guide: Racials, Classes and Leveling
This World of Warcraft Forever undead guide opens with the verdict: roll a Paladin or a Warlock, drain mana from corpses, and forget that Will of the Forsaken ever made you immune to anything. Forever launches on November 4, 2026, beta runs from September 17 to October 21, and the Forsaken arrive with six classes, four racials and the social standing of a leper at a wedding.
The short version of the new kit: Will of the Forsaken breaks Charm, Fear and Sleep on a 2 minute cooldown with no immunity afterwards. Cannibalize now restores 7% Health and 7% Mana every 2 sec for 10 sec. Touch of the Grave gives spells and attacks a 5% chance to drain up to 5% of your maximum Health. Underwater Breathing stays at 300%. Shadow Resistance did not survive the rework, and Undead Paladin is the only Paladin the Horde gets.
Undead Racial Abilities and Exact Numbers
Every race in Forever now has two active and two passive racials, tuned to a similar offensive budget. The WoW Forever undead racials trade old defensive smugness for sustain, which is a polite way of saying you now eat corpses for mana too.
| Racial | Type | What it does | Cooldown |
|---|---|---|---|
| Will of the Forsaken | Active | Instantly removes all Charm, Fear and Sleep effects. No immunity window. | 2 min |
| Cannibalize | Active | 7% Health and 7% Mana every 2 sec for 10 sec, 35% of each in total. Humanoid or Undead corpse within 5 yd. Movement, action or damage cancels it. | 2 min |
| Touch of the Grave | Passive | Spells and attacks have a 5% chance to drain Health from the target, up to 5% of your maximum Health. | None |
| Underwater Breathing | Passive | Underwater breath lasts 300% longer. | None |
Touch of the Grave has no verified Wowhead ID yet, so it stays unlinked until the database stops guessing. Numbers above come from the BlizzCon demo and the official Deep Dive, and beta can still sand them down.
What Changed From the Original Forsaken Kit
- Will of the Forsaken lost its 5 second immunity, Blizzard called the old version a little bit too strong.
- Cannibalize now refunds Mana, which turns it from a Warrior snack into a caster economy tool.
- Touch of the Grave is brand new and gives the Forsaken their first damage racial.
- Shadow Resistance is gone, so Warlocks in PvP no longer bounce off your rotting skin.
- Devouring Plague left the Undead Priest kit and became baseline for every Priest.
Read this before rolling for PvP. Will of the Forsaken is now a cleanse, not a shield. Press it after the Fear lands, never before, because pre-casting it does nothing and burns a 2 minute cooldown while a Warlock laughs at your empty bars.
Priest and Paladin Extras
Undead Priests keep a race-specific pair: Dark Sacrifice and Touch of Weakness. Dark Sacrifice converts your own Health into Mana over 15 sec, 532 Health for 440 Mana at Rank 1 and 720 for 720 on the level 38 demo rank. Touch of Weakness now deals Shadow damage to the next melee attacker and cuts its melee Attack Power for 2 min. Neither spell has a verified Wowhead ID, so neither gets a link.
The WoW Forever undead Paladin uses the reworked class kit. Holy Strike arrives at level 6 on a 12 sec cooldown, Seals are no longer consumed by Judgment, Seal of Fury makes Judgment taunt, and Consecration is baseline at level 20. The class still has no interrupt and no slow, and it still deals bonus damage to Undead, which makes every Forsaken Paladin a walking conflict of interest.
Classes and Best Race Combos
The WoW Forever undead classes are Warrior, Paladin, Rogue, Priest, Mage and Warlock. No Hunter, no Shaman, no Druid, because the dead do not hug trees or pets.
| Class | Status | Why Undead fits | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|
| Paladin | New in Forever | Cannibalize refills Mana, Touch of the Grave procs off melee and tanking, only Horde Paladin option. | Top pick |
| Warlock | Classic combo | Will of the Forsaken breaks enemy Fear, Cannibalize covers Health and Mana between pulls. | Top pick |
| Priest | Classic combo | Dark Sacrifice fixes Shadow mana, Will of the Forsaken keeps a healer casting through fear mechanics. | Strong |
| Mage | Classic combo | Cannibalize shortens drinking breaks on humanoid packs. | Solid |
| Rogue | Classic combo | Fear break matters in duels, Touch of the Grave adds free sustain. | Solid |
| Warrior | Classic combo | Touch of the Grave helps solo, but no offensive cooldown racial. | Playable, not optimal |
The best undead class WoW Forever offers is Paladin for novelty and group value, Warlock for PvP. Orc and Troll still own raw melee burst with Blood Fury and Berserking, so a min-maxed Warrior belongs elsewhere.
Starting Zone and the First 10 Levels
Forsaken wake up in Deathknell, the gated corner of WoW Forever Tirisfal Glades. Blizzard confirmed new NPCs, quests, profession hooks and recipes in every starting area, so treat the route below as the original skeleton with Forever meat added on top. Coordinates follow the original Tirisfal Glades map and may shift a few points after beta.
- Level 1: grab Rude Awakening outside the crypt and walk to Shadow Priest Sarvis in the chapel at 30, 66.
- Level 1 to 2: finish The Mindless Ones by killing 8 Mindless Zombies and 8 Wretched Zombies right outside the chapel.
- Level 2: take The Damned from Novice Elreth and farm 6 Scavenger Paws and 6 Duskbat Wings west of town at 30, 60.
- Level 3: kill 12 Rattlecage Skeletons at 33, 60 for Rattling the Rattlecages and turn everything in at the chapel.
- Level 3 to 4: pick up Scavenging Deathknell from Deathguard Saltain and loot 6 crates in the ruined houses east of the chapel.
- Level 4: kill Samuel Fipps at 36, 62, then bury his remains at Marla’s Grave for Marla’s Last Wish.
- Level 4 to 5: clear 10 Young Night Web Spiders and 8 Night Web Spiders around the mine at 27, 59 for Night Web’s Hollow.
- Level 5: collect 12 Scarlet Armbands at the Crusade camp at 36, 67 for The Scarlet Crusade.
- Level 5: kill Meven Korgal at 36, 68 for The Red Messenger and pull him from the hill behind the tent.
- Level 5 to 6: carry Vital Intelligence east to Executor Zygand in Brill at 60, 51.
- Level 6: take Gordo’s Task from the patrolling abomination and pick 3 Gloom Weed near the bridge at 52, 54.
- Level 7 to 9: set your hearth at Innkeeper Renee at 61, 52 and clear every Brill quest hub before wandering off.
- Level 10: kill Maggot Eye in the hut at 58, 30 for Wanted: Maggot Eye, which closes the Brill loop.
Cannibalize carries WoW Forever undead leveling here, because Scarlet Crusaders and gnolls are humanoid corpses and Tirisfal is basically a buffet. Forsaken Paladins get pulled toward Bandarion Keep in the Whispering Wood around level 10, a previously sealed part of northwest Tirisfal where most of their class quests live.
Racial Weapon Skills and Profession Bonuses
Undead get zero weapon specializations and zero profession bonuses. Forever replaced old weapon skill racials with crit passives for Humans, Orcs and Dwarves, and the Forsaken were not invited to that party either.
- Pick weapons by stats alone, because no racial pushes you toward swords, axes or maces.
- Weapon skill on gear still works but is spread thinner per item, so it is rarely mandatory.
- Hit and crit are merged across melee, ranged and spells, which simplifies Paladin gearing.
- Every profession unlocks its first camping object at skill 20, and there are over 600 new recipes.
- Tailoring suits cloth casters leveling on linen-heavy humanoids in Tirisfal and Silverpine.
- Herbalism with Alchemy pays off early, since Brill hosts an Alchemy trainer next to the quest givers.
Where Undead Are Strongest: Raid, PvP or Leveling
| Content | Rating | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Leveling | Excellent | Cannibalize refills Health and Mana on humanoid kills, Touch of the Grave adds free healing. |
| PvP | Very good | Will of the Forsaken breaks Fear, Charm and Sleep, but only reactively now. |
| Dungeons | Good | Mana refunds between pulls cut downtime for healers and casters. |
| Raid | Average | No throughput cooldown like Blood Fury or Berserking, only fear breaks and sustain. |
WoW Forever undead PvP lost its pre-emptive immunity, yet a Fear break on a 2 minute cooldown still ruins a Warlock’s evening. The PvP ruleset uses Season of Discovery style faction balance, so the Horde cannot simply outnumber its way to victory anymore.
Mounts, City Access and Reputation
Forever uses Burning Crusade style riding: the gold goes into training and a mount is granted when you learn the skill. Blizzard has not published the riding level or the price, so anyone quoting a number is guessing. A WoW Forever undead mount collection starts with skeletal horses from Zachariah Post in Brill, and in the original game other races needed Exalted with Undercity to buy them, a rule Forever has not confirmed yet.
- Forsaken Paladins get their own warhorse in black and gold barding according to BlizzCon footage.
- At level 60, Forsaken Paladins run an epic mount quest themed around Retribution, not Redemption.
- Warlocks keep class mount quests, and neither class needs a vendor to look impressive.
- Undercity is your capital, built under the ruins of Lordaeron, with bank, auction house and class trainers.
- Zeppelins near Undercity connect Tirisfal to Orgrimmar and to Grom’gol in Stranglethorn Vale.
- Deathknell and Brill quests feed Undercity reputation from level 1, so questing already does the grind.
- Forever is realmless, so you pick Normal, PvP or Roleplaying instead of a server, with Hardcore after launch.
- Horde and Alliance still cannot group, and cross-ruleset grouping is not supported.
Lore
WoW Forever Forsaken lore sits in Year 1, around 25 ADP, after the Warcraft III Reforged: Forsaken Kingdom campaign and before Molten Core. Blizzard calls it a time bubble, so nothing here shares continuity with modern WoW. Lordaeron fell to the Scourge, Sylvanas broke the Lich King’s hold on part of the dead, and the survivors built Undercity beneath the ruins while the Scarlet Crusade hunts them across Tirisfal.
Forsaken Kingdom follows Garek Bandarion, a Lordaeron guard who rises as a captain of the Deathguard and becomes one of the first Forsaken Paladins. In Forever these paladins are deeply mistrusted by other Forsaken, who mostly know the Light from Scarlet zealots, and channeling it is painful for the undead body. There are no Blood Elves in Forever, so Horde Paladins are rotting, hurting and deeply unwelcome, which is exactly why everyone will roll one.
Can Undead play Paladin in World of Warcraft Forever?
Yes. Undead Paladin is one of six new race and class combinations and the only Paladin option for the Horde.
Does Will of the Forsaken still grant immunity?
No. It instantly removes Charm, Fear and Sleep on a 2 minute cooldown, but grants no immunity window afterwards.
How much does Cannibalize restore in Forever?
It restores 7% Health and 7% Mana every 2 seconds for 10 seconds, totaling 35% of each resource.
Do Undead still have Shadow Resistance?
No. Shadow Resistance was removed, and Touch of the Grave took its slot as the new damage and sustain passive.
Where do Forsaken Paladins get their class quests?
Mostly from Bandarion Keep in the Whispering Wood, a previously sealed part of northwest Tirisfal Glades, around level 10.
