WoW Forever Warchief’s Blessing Guide: Rend Buff, Timing and Logout Trick
WoW Forever Warchief’s Blessing is the Horde world buff that Thrall throws at everyone in Orgrimmar and the Crossroads when a player turns in the Head of Rend Blackhand. The Forever buff run math is short: 300 health, 15% melee haste, 10 mana every 5 seconds, 60 minutes, gone on death, frozen while you are logged out. Warchief’s Blessing carries the original vanilla numbers, and Forever has announced no changes to them.
The bad news comes second, as it should. Savix, relaying what he heard from Blizzard at the BlizzCon demo, says world buffs work in the open world of Forever but not inside raids. Blizzard has not written a ban on world buffs in WoW Forever raids into patch notes yet. Forever launches on November 4, 2026, and the beta stays capped at level 30, so nobody will test a level 55 quest turn-in before launch day.
Where to Get It: Coordinates
Here is how to get Warchief’s Blessing in WoW Forever without wandering around like a fresh level 10. The head drops from Warchief Rend Blackhand in Upper Blackrock Spire. It is turned in to Thrall on his throne. The buff lands on two places, and only two.
| Place | Coordinates | What happens there |
|---|---|---|
| Grommash Hold, Valley of Wisdom, Orgrimmar | /way 31.8 37.8 | Thrall takes the head and casts the buff |
| The Crossroads, The Barrens | /way 51 30 | Second wave of the same buff a few seconds later |
| Upper Blackrock Spire | Instance, Rend encounter | Head of Rend Blackhand drops |
Forever reworks several classic zones. The coordinates above are the original ones; if Blizzard rearranged Orgrimmar furniture, trust your map, not this table.
Unlocking the Turn-In: The Quest Chain
The head only works if the carrier owns the quest. For The Horde! sits in the middle of the WoW Forever Onyxia attunement chain for the Horde, which means raiders will be doing it anyway, and every one of them can drop the buff exactly once per character.
- Warlord Goretooth in Kargath, Badlands, gives Warlord’s Command and sends you to kill Highlord Omokk, War Master Voone and Overlord Wyrmthalak in Lower Blackrock Spire.
- The Important Blackrock Documents spawn behind one of those three bosses, so check the floor before your group runs off.
- Goretooth then hands you Eitrigg’s Wisdom, which sends you to Eitrigg in Thrall’s chamber and then to Thrall himself.
- Thrall offers For The Horde!, a level 60 raid quest that requires level 55.
- You kill Rend in Upper Blackrock Spire, loot the head, and keep it in your bags until the drop is announced.
Rewards are a choice of one item.
| Reward | Slot |
|---|---|
| Mark of Tyranny | Ring |
| Eye of the Beast | Trinket |
| Blackhand’s Breadth | Trinket |
Triggering the Drop: Who, Where, When
The WoW Forever Rend buff is a ritual, not a mechanic. One person turns in, the rest of the Horde stands in town pretending to be busy.
- The carrier needs For The Horde! in the quest log and the head in bags, and nobody has to be grouped with them.
- Recipients stand anywhere inside Orgrimmar or the Crossroads, so the throne room crowd is optional theater.
- Thrall yells after the turn-in, the buff hits Orgrimmar first and reaches the Crossroads after a short delay.
- Nova World Buffs warns about 6 seconds before the drop, which is not enough time to swap from an alt, so sit on your main.
- In Classic each layer had a 2 to 3 hour gap between Rend drops, and Forever’s region-wide rulesets make that timer a guess.
- Alliance players get it only while a Horde priest mind controls them at the moment of the drop.
Hearthstone set to the Crossroads is the classic escape hatch. When someone announces Rend, hearth, and the second wave catches you on arrival.
Exact Numbers and Duration
| Effect | Value |
|---|---|
| Health | +300 |
| Melee attack speed | +15% haste |
| Mana regeneration | +10 every 5 seconds |
| Duration | 60 minutes |
| Faction | Horde |
| Area | Orgrimmar and the Crossroads |
The Warchief’s Blessing duration is one hour, half of what Rallying Cry gives you, which is why Rend always goes last on the route. The 10 mana per 5 seconds adds up to 7,200 mana over the full hour if you never lose it. You will lose it.
The haste is melee only. Hunter auto shots, wands and spells get nothing. The 300 health equals roughly 30 Stamina, which is the part tanks actually notice.
Keeping It: Logout Trick, Death, What Strips It
- Logging out pauses the timer, so buffing and logging off until the raid invite is still the cheapest and best method.
- Dying removes it instantly, and in Hardcore the buff is the least of your problems.
- Enemy players can dispel it in the open world, which makes the Crossroads a popular Alliance picnic spot.
- Right-clicking the icon cancels it, and people do this by accident more often than they admit.
- Entering a Forever raid reportedly stops world buffs from working, see the note below.
Reported from the BlizzCon demo on September 13: world buffs work in the open world, not inside raids. Blizzard has not confirmed it officially. If it holds, Warchief’s Blessing becomes a leveling, farming, dungeon and world PvP tool, not a raid parse button.
Classic Era and Anniversary realms added the Chronoboon Displacer. It removes your world buffs, stores the remaining time in a Supercharged Chronoboon Displacer, and gives them back on use after a 6 second cast, with a 1 hour cooldown. On Anniversary realms it costs 1 gold. A Chronoboon in WoW Forever has not appeared in any announcement, so the old logout trick stays the primary plan.
Old routes still win. Get the 2 hour buffs first, Songflower next, Rend last, then log out in town and let the timers sleep.
What It Stacks With and What It Overwrites
Warchief’s Blessing overwrites only itself. A second drop refreshes it to 60 minutes, nothing more. Against the rest of the World of Warcraft Forever world buffs, it stacks with everything the classic lineup offers.
| Buff | Stacks with Warchief’s Blessing | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Rallying Cry of the Dragonslayer | Yes | Head of Onyxia or Head of Nefarian turn-in |
| Songflower Serenade | Yes | Cleansed Songflower in Felwood |
| Mol’dar’s Moxie, Fengus’ Ferocity, Slip’kik’s Savvy | Yes | Dire Maul North tribute run |
| Spirit of Zandalar | Yes | Heart of Hakkar turn-in, if Forever keeps it |
| Sayge’s Dark Fortune of Damage | Yes | Darkmoon Faire |
| Warchief’s Blessing again | No, refreshes | Next Rend drop |
Forever campfire buffs from professions do not stack with the class buffs they copy. Warchief’s Blessing is not a class buff, so the campfire leaves it alone. The 15% haste multiplies with other melee haste such as Flurry and Slice and Dice instead of adding.
Which Class and Which Raid Want It Most
Among WoW Forever melee buffs this is the one with the worst uptime and the most honest value. If you do not hit things with a weapon, you are here for 300 health and a rounding error of mana.
| Class or role | Value | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Fury Warrior | Highest | Haste means more swings, more rage, more Flurry procs |
| Rogue | High | Pure white hit and poison proc scaling |
| Enhancement Shaman | High | More swings feed Windfury chances |
| Feral Druid in Cat Form | Medium | Haste helps, energy caps |
| Warrior tank | Medium | 300 health plus extra rage from faster swings |
| Casters and healers | Low | 10 mana every 5 seconds and nothing else |
| Hunter | Lowest | Ranged attacks are not melee attacks |
Forever unlocks raids on December 9, 2026: Barrow Deeps for 10 players, Hyjal Summit for 20, and Onyxia‘s Lair for 40. On paper Onyxia’s Lair is the classic target. Under the reported raid rule, the real customers are Upper Blackrock Spire runs, open world elites and anyone leveling a Hardcore character who wants 300 extra health between him and deletion.
Lore: The False Warchief
Rend Blackhand is the son of Blackhand the Destroyer. After the Second War he and his brother Maim took Blackrock Spire, crowned Rend warchief of the Dark Horde and sold their loyalty to Nefarian and the black dragonflight. Thrall calls him the false warchief and does not negotiate.
Eitrigg’s Wisdom opens with the Horde thinking Rend died decades ago. Forever is set in the first year of World of Warcraft, after the Forsaken Kingdom campaign and before Molten Core, so Rend is alive, the Spire is full, and the oldest Classic Plus world buff is still a fresh head on a spike next to Thrall’s throne.
Does Warchief’s Blessing work inside Forever raids?
Reportedly no. Savix relayed that world buffs work in the open world but not in raids, pending official Blizzard confirmation.
How long does Warchief’s Blessing last?
It lasts 60 minutes, pauses while your character is logged out, and disappears the moment your character dies.
Can Alliance players get Warchief’s Blessing?
Only while a Horde priest mind controls them at the exact moment the buff drops in Orgrimmar or the Crossroads.
What stats does Warchief’s Blessing give?
It grants 300 health, 15 percent melee attack speed and 10 mana every five seconds to Horde players in range.
Where do I turn in the Head of Rend Blackhand?
Bring it to Thrall in Grommash Hold, Orgrimmar, with For The Horde! already accepted from him in your log.
