WoW Forever Yeh’kinya’s Scroll Guide: Hakkar Summon Chain
Here is the WoW Forever Yeh’kinya’s Scroll answer for people who quit after one paragraph. The scroll is a reusable, never consumed summoning item for the Avatar of Hakkar in Sunken Temple. You earn it through a four quest chain from Yeh’kinya in Steamwheedle Port, Tanaris, around 66, 22: capture three screecher spirits in Feralas, loot two tablets in Zul’Farrak, steal an egg from the top of Jintha’Alor, then kill the Avatar in the Temple of Atal’Hakkar. After the final turn in, talk to Yeh’kinya once more and he hands over the scroll.
Pick up at level 40, finish around 53 to 55. No reputation, no faction lock, no prior attunement. The price is two dungeon runs, one elite troll city and a bird hunt, which is exactly as fun as it sounds.

Where the Chain Starts
Yeh’kinya stands on the docks of Steamwheedle Port on the northeastern coast of Tanaris. Fly to Gadgetzan, then ride east along the road until the goblins and the smell of fish get stronger. He is neutral, so Alliance and Horde both queue at the same troll.
He offers Screecher Spirits first and every later step returns to him, so set your hearthstone in Gadgetzan and keep it there until the egg is full.
Prerequisites Before You Start
- Your character must be at least level 40 to accept the first quest.
- No reputation with the Steamwheedle Cartel or any other faction is required.
- No earlier dungeon, key or attunement is needed to start.
- A Feathermoon Stronghold or Camp Mojache flight path saves a long run through Feralas.
- A Hinterlands flight path at Aerie Peak or Revantusk Village saves another long run.
- Bag space for two tablets, an egg and a bramble is required, and every item in this chain is a quest item.

Anyone planning a World of Warcraft Forever quest chain route should accept step 2 before any Zul’Farrak group forms, because the tablets drop off bosses that the group kills anyway.
Step 1: Screecher Spirits
Yeh’kinya hands you Yeh’kinya’s Bramble. Kill Vale Screechers or Rogue Vale Screechers in southern and central Feralas, use the bramble on the corpse, then click the spirit that rises. Three spirits and you are done. The WoW Forever Screecher Spirits step is the only part of this chain that respects your time, so enjoy it while it lasts.
- The coast north of the Forgotten Coast dock, starting around 45, 40, holds several screechers in a row with no wandering adds.
- The road junction toward Dire Maul, around 50, 56, has a smaller spawn mixed with bears and apes.
- The yeti valley around 57, 57 has a single screecher with a respawn of a few minutes.
- Use the bramble before skinning, because a skinned corpse no longer accepts it.
- The bramble works on corpses killed by other players, so free kills count.
- One use gives credit to every nearby party member on the quest, so groups only need three corpses total.
- The bramble can be used while mounted without dismounting you.
- Using the bramble puts you in combat, so eat, drink and mount before clicking it.
- Screechers cast a silence, which casters discover the hard way.
Step 2: The Prophecy of Mosh’aru
Both tablets drop in Zul’Farrak. Theka the Martyr holds the first one in his scarab filled shrine. Hydromancer Velratha holds the second one beside the sacred pool of Gahz’rilla. Neither is optional for an honest ZF run, so this costs nothing extra.
| Boss | Tablet | Where | What hurts |
|---|---|---|---|
| Theka the Martyr | First Mosh’aru Tablet | Scarab room early in the dungeon | Immune to physical and shadow damage for about 15 seconds near 30 percent health, plus a nature damage plague |
| Hydromancer Velratha | Second Mosh’aru Tablet | Pool area of Gahz’rilla | Water bolts, a heal and a knockback wave |
- Stunlocking Theka through his last 30 percent prevents the immunity phase.
- Theka is undead, so paladin Exorcism and priest Shackle Undead work on him.
- Casters or a patient kiter can wait out his immunity instead of wiping on it.
- AoE near Theka wakes the scarabs, and a room of angry beetles is how groups die.
- At the end of the first hallway, turn left behind the crates and follow the wall to reach the Gahz’rilla area with fewer pulls.
- Velratha can be pulled with a ranged attack from the opposite side of the pool.
Stack the tablets with every other WoW Forever Zul’Farrak quests pickup. Velratha also drops the Tiara of the Deep, and if you visit Jintha’Alor first, the Mallet of Zul’Farrak from step 3 summons Gahz’rilla for whoever still needs his scale.
Step 3: The Ancient Egg
The egg sits in a cave behind the amphitheater at the very top of Jintha’Alor in The Hinterlands. The cave entrance is around 59, 78, and the egg itself is around 57, 86. Ignore the cave marked on your world map, it is the wrong one and leads to the gryphon from Saving Sharpbeak.
Jintha’Alor is a spiral of elite trolls in the high 40s and low 50s that respawn with open contempt for your schedule. You can stay mounted and ride the stone path up to the cave, then everything inside hurts. The egg rests on a rock in a small pool, circled by a named priestess and two guards who never leave.
- The patrol pauses briefly on the northeast side of the rock, so approach from the southwest.
- The rock blocks line of sight, so standing directly behind it keeps you hidden from the patrol.
- Opening the egg is a cast of a few seconds, and any hit interrupts it.
- Divine Shield and invulnerability potions block the loot with an immune error.
- Invisibility potions break the moment you start opening the egg.
- After one player loots it, the egg respawns for the next group member in roughly 15 seconds.
While you are up there, use a Sacred Mallet from Qiaga the Keeper at the Jintha’Alor altar in front of the cave. It becomes the Mallet of Zul’Farrak, and the WoW Forever Jintha’Alor Ancient Egg trip suddenly pays twice.
Skips, Shortcuts and Rogue or Engineer Workarounds
Old tricks still beat new ideas here. The chain rewards classes that can disappear, and punishes classes that cannot with repair bills.
| Method | Who | How it works |
|---|---|---|
| Distract grab | Rogue | Distract the patrol toward the far wall, loot from the other side of the rock, then vanish |
| Sap, Blind, Gouge | Rogue | Sap one guard, Blind the second, Gouge the priestess, loot, vanish after her damage over time expires |
| Mind control | Engineer | Gnomish Mind Control Cap on a guard makes it pull the others while you loot |
| Net and loot | Engineer | Gnomish Net-o-Matic Projector roots one guard, a second control handles the rest |
| Decoy | Engineer | Drop a Target Dummy on resurrection, the patrol turns to it, you loot |
| Death run | Any class | Die inside the cave, place your ghost behind the rock, resurrect when the patrol is opposite, loot, die again |
| Pet sacrifice | Hunter, Warlock | Send the pet or Voidwalker into the patrol and loot while it dies for you |
| Fear | Priest, Warlock, Warrior | Resurrect, fear the patrol, loot before they return |
- Death running works because the egg room is far from the graveyard but safe corners exist near the rock.
- Auto loot saves the fraction of a second that decides whether the egg lands in your bags.
- A hearthstone after looting skips the walk back through the city.
Step 4: The God Hakkar
Yeh’kinya turns your Ancient Egg into the Egg of Hakkar and sends you to the Sanctum of the Fallen God inside the Temple of Atal’Hakkar in Swamp of Sorrows. From the entrance, take the hard left up the winding stairs into the Pit of Sacrifice, hug the wall, and take the western halls where the dragonkin face down the corridor. The room with a ring, a skeleton and four burning braziers is the sanctum.
You do not need to kill the six Atal’ai troll minibosses, Jammal’an the Prophet or Shade of Eranikus for this. That is a separate evening of suffering. The World of Warcraft Forever Sunken Temple sanctum run can be done as a direct path for a group that only wants this quest.
- Clear the sanctum and both halls leading into it before touching anything.
- Set loot to free for all so one designated player collects every blood.
- Assign one player as the blood runner and tell nobody else to loot.
- Assign one player to peel adds off the healer.
- Brief the group, because the event starts the second the egg is used.
The event itself runs in this order:
- The egg holder uses the Egg of Hakkar inside the ring, the gates close and the ghost of Hakkar appears, unkillable for now.
- Non elite snakes spawn in waves, so round them up and AoE them.
- Hakkari Bloodkeepers spawn one at a time, and each one drops Hakkari Blood.
- The blood runner uses the blood on one of the four eternal flames in the corners.
- Each doused flame brings elite Nightmare Suppressors into the room to channel on the ghost, so kill them immediately.
- Repeat until all four flames are out.
- The Avatar of Hakkar becomes real and attacks the nearest target.
- Kill it, loot the Essence of Hakkar, then right click it in your bags to create the Filled Egg of Hakkar.
If the group wipes before the fourth flame, the encounter will not restart until the instance is reset. If a Nightmare Suppressor finishes its channel, the ghost despawns and the event is also dead until reset. There is no second try inside the same lockout, only a walk of shame to the portal.
Before dousing the last flame, stack the group against a wall and finish every remaining add. Drink, rebuff and resurrect there, because the Avatar does not wait for your mage to reach full mana.
Avatar of Hakkar: The Actual Boss
After the add marathon, the boss is almost insulting. The WoW Forever Avatar of Hakkar fight is a tank and spank with a few ways to embarrass you.
| Ability | Effect | Counter |
|---|---|---|
| Cause Insanity | One player attacks allies for 6 seconds with increased attack and movement speed | Crowd control or dispel the player, or wait it out |
| Curse of Tongues | Casting speed reduced by 50 percent for 15 seconds | Decurse casters and healers first |
| Lash | 2 second stun on the target with a chance to disarm | Keep the tank topped up |
- The Avatar can be feared, which buys time to finish leftover adds.
- Casters and healers should stand back before the last flame goes out.
- Switch loot back from free for all before the boss dies, because his drops are bind on pickup.
- A player on the quest who is not the egg holder can still loot the essence and use it later.
Turn in the filled egg at Steamwheedle Port and choose one reward. The WoW Forever Egg of Hakkar turn in pays for the whole chain with one of these.
| Reward | Type |
|---|---|
| Avenguard Helm | Helm |
| Lifeforce Dirk | Dagger |
| Gemburst Circlet | Circlet |
Claiming Yeh’kinya’s Scroll and What It Unlocks
After the turn in, speak to Yeh’kinya again and choose the option to receive the summoning spell. You get Yeh’kinya’s Scroll: item level 50, bind on pickup, unique, used within the Sanctum of the Fallen God to cast Awaken the Soulflayer on a 5 minute cooldown. It is never consumed.
| What it unlocks | Status |
|---|---|
| Repeat summons of the Avatar of Hakkar on any future Sunken Temple run | Yes |
| Summoning without anyone in the group holding the quest | Yes, one scroll holder is enough |
| Opening doors or dungeon entrances | No |
| Teleports | No |
| Raid access or raid attunement | No |
| Access to the later Hakkar chain | Yes, completing The God Hakkar is its prerequisite |
Among World of Warcraft Forever dungeon keys, this one opens a boss, not a building. The group with a scroll holder gets the Avatar loot table on every run, and the group without one gets to watch the braziers burn.
What Comes After the Scroll
The story does not end with the egg. At level 58 a second chain starts with Prospector Ironboot in Tanaris and exposes Yeh’kinya’s real employer.
- The Lost Tablets of Mosh’aru sends you after more Mosh’aru tablets for Prospector Ironboot.
- The Final Tablets takes you into Lower Blackrock Spire for the last pieces.
- Confront Yeh’kinya is the confrontation, rewarded with the Faded Hakkari Cloak or the Tattered Hakkari Cape.
- The Hand of Rastakhan sends you to Molthor on Yojamba Isle in Stranglethorn Vale.
Lore
Yeh’kinya claims the essence of Hakkar must be contained to protect the world. The Mosh’aru tablets were written to trap that essence, and the egg is a relic of the old troll empires that can hold it. The vale screechers matter because Yeh’kinya calls them cousins of an old god, and Hakkar the Soulflayer is a winged serpent.
The Nightmare Suppressors in the sanctum belong to the green dragonflight, sent to keep Hakkar’s spirit out of Azeroth, and you kill them for a goblin port troll. Ironboot later reads the lost tablets and learns the truth: the egg does not contain Hakkar, it lets him be reborn. Yeh’kinya admits it and cheers the return of the Soulflayer in Zul’Gurub.
Theka the Martyr, the tablet holder in Zul’Farrak, died defending the city in the war against the qiraji, and his killers were cursed into the scarabs that crawl around his shrine. Fans have also long noted that yeh appears to mean the in the Faceless language, which fuels the theory that Hakkar ties back to the Old Gods. That part is speculation, not a quest text.
Notes for Forever Players
WoW Forever keeps the level cap at 60 with fixed zone level ranges, so Feralas, Zul’Farrak and Jintha’Alor stay dangerous at the levels this chain was built for. No flying mounts means every leg of this trip is walked, ridden or flown on a gryphon, just like the original.
Blizzard has not published changes to this chain for Forever. Everything above follows the current Classic quest data, which is the only data that exists. Forever launches on November 4, 2026, and the beta is reported to cap at level 30, so nobody reaches Yeh’kinya’s content before launch. Treat this WoW: Forever attunement guide as the baseline and expect it to hold, because old chains, old drop spots and old skips rarely get worse.
How do I get Yeh’kinya’s Scroll in WoW Forever?
Finish The God Hakkar chain for Yeh’kinya in Steamwheedle Port, then talk to him once more to receive it.
What level do I need for the Yeh’kinya’s Scroll chain?
Level 40 accepts the first quest, but the Sunken Temple step is comfortable only around levels 53 to 55.
Is Yeh’kinya’s Scroll consumed when summoning the Avatar of Hakkar?
No, the scroll is never consumed. It summons the Avatar inside the Sanctum of the Fallen God every five minutes.
Can I solo The Ancient Egg in Jintha’Alor?
Yes, with stealth, engineering gadgets or death runs. Resurrect behind the rock while the patrol is opposite, then loot.
What happens if my group wipes during the Hakkar event?
The event cannot restart until the instance resets. A finished Nightmare Suppressor channel also ruins the attempt completely.
