WoW Midnight 12.1 Tier List & PvP Guide: Season 2

Anyone building a WoW Midnight 12.1 tier list right now has to start with the same annoying fact: the season is not live. WoW Midnight Patch 12.1, Curse of Ula’tek, is on the PTR, with launch expected around August 11, 2026, and Season 2 opening roughly a week after that. Archon’s own PTR beta page for Mythic+ carries 5,663 total parses as of this week and comes with its own blunt warning, in Archon’s own words, “treating testing data like live data is both incorrect and inaccurate.” Keep that sentence in mind for the rest of this guide.

U’re welcome to read the Warlock PTR sims, Discord based 😉

blah-blah-blah… also new Murder Row Guide + MDT routes… fully wowhead verified… Please visit it, i’ll appreciate if you’ll waste a little bit time here at my site 😉

I’m not tha Gandalf. but you shall read the Altar of Fangs Mythic+ Boss Guide for S2.

What follows is not invented. It’s a synthesis of the actual PTR tier lists currently being published, spec by spec, from testers who are actually playing the PTR build. Numbers are real PTR patch note figures. Tiers are real published PTR rankings. None of it is a live Season 2 parse, because Season 2 does not exist yet.

What Curse of Ula’tek Actually Adds

Midnight Season 2 opens roughly a week after Patch 12.1 itself, and the whole patch is built around one blunt combat lever, player health and enemy damage both rise 25% at max level, meant to smooth the gap between cooldown burst and normal rotation. The new zone is the Coiled Isle, a venom soaked stretch of Amani ruins east of Zul’Aman. Curse of Ula’tek is themed entirely around the serpent goddess Ula’tek, sealed there for sixteen thousand years until Zul’jan, egged on by Hex Lord Malacrass, lets her out.

DPS Tier List: Mythic+ Season 2 PTR

Anyone chasing the best DPS WoW Midnight can offer right now is picking off a PTR tier list, not a live leaderboard, because that leaderboard does not exist yet. Here is the current published read, spec by spec.

TierSpecPTR Notes
SArcane MageArcane Blast damage up 20%, Splintering Orbs bonus raised to 50%. Fixed its old weak spot, priority target damage, and now hits hard with strong survivability on top.
SElemental ShamanFarseer’s Lava Burst and Chain Lightning trimmed 20% for cleave, but the new tier set grants free Earth Shock and Earthquake casts, keeping it near the top.
SDevourer Demon HunterTook cleave nerfs to Eradicate and Final Hour duration, but Chaos Brand, Blur charges, and Void Metamorphosis leech keep it dominant regardless.
SArms WarriorSweeping Strikes and Execute both trimmed, but the new four piece stacks a Slam buff up to five times. Real damage loss on the PTR sits around 2%.
SFrost Death KnightUntouched by the tuning pass and still one of the safest, most durable Mythic+ picks in the game thanks to its tier set interaction with Remorseless Winter.
ADevastation EvokerDisintegrate up 40%, Living Flame up 50%, Deep Breath up 30%. A tier set nerf to Scintillation got heavily compensated, turning a struggling spec into a real contender.
ADemonology WarlockShadow Bolt up 45%, Demonbolt up 55%. Addresses the damage ceiling from earlier Diabolist nerfs and returns Demonology to top tier single target.
AAffliction WarlockHaunt’s damage amplification extended, keeping strong priority damage and solid survivability from Impetuous Wrath and Hedonic Gorging.
AAugmentation EvokerAvoided major nerfs and keeps its group amplification through Ebon Might and Prescience, even if its personal Bloodlust competition with Arcane Mage is close.
AOutlaw RogueA flat 6% damage buff plus a smoother Killing Spree redesign make it one of the patch’s sleeper risers.
AAssassination RogueA flat 10% damage buff makes Garrote and Rupture hit hard, though the spec still brings little group utility.
AEnhancement ShamanStrong Voltaic Blaze tier set interaction. Its main problem isn’t tuning, it’s competing with Elemental for the same melee versus ranged slot.
AUnholy Death KnightVirulent Plague, Epidemic, and Graveyard all trimmed for AoE, but auto attack damage doubled and tier set bonuses rose 25%, pushing it toward single target instead.
ARetribution PaladinNo new changes this build, still carrying its 10% Divine Storm buff and smoother rotation flow from earlier patches.
BMarksmanship HunterLost its 5% damage aura and took a 33% Explosive Shot cut. Still playable, no longer dominant.
BShadow PriestVoid Volley baseline cut 10% and its tier set free proc reduced from 125% to 100% effectiveness, hitting its burst profile hard.
BDestruction WarlockSoulfire up 45% and Chaos Bolt up 5%, but Havoc now only duplicates 50% of spell damage, gutting its cleave value.
BBeast Mastery HunterCobra Shot cut 20% alongside an overall 3% reduction, pulling back a spec that looked dominant earlier in testing.
BSurvival HunterFun, active gameplay through Wildfire Bomb resets, but still lacks the group utility to lock a spot over other melee.
BWindwalker MonkHigh damage ceiling in skilled hands, undercut by fragility that scales badly into higher Mythic+ keys.
BHavoc Demon HunterReal buffs to Blade Dance, Chaos Strike, and Essence Break on paper, but it’s rarely showing up in actual PTR play thanks to a weak AoE profile.
CBalance DruidOne of the harshest nerfs of the patch, with cuts across Moonfire, Sunfire, Starsurge, and Starfall all at once.
CFrost MageSplitting Ice and its tier set Shatter bonus both cut hard against secondary targets, undoing its identity as a cleave specialist.
CFeral DruidSolid AoE bleed damage, weak priority target burst, low representation as a result.
DFire MageA flat 6% buff to all Fire damage isn’t nearly enough to fix its unpopular extended Pyroclasm playstyle.
DFury WarriorNo compelling reason to bring it over Arms right now.
DSubtlety RogueA 10% flat buff landed, and testing results are still disappointing outside of burst windows.

WoW Midnight Healer Tier List: Season 2 PTR

This WoW Midnight healer tier list is built around pug comfort specifically, meaning panic buttons and forgiving mistakes matter more here than raw throughput on a dummy.

TierSpecPTR Notes
SRestoration ShamanThe safest pug pick in the game. Healing Stream Totem and Stormstream Totem cover mistakes automatically, and Wind Shear gives Shaman one of the best healer interrupts available. Weak point is instant single target healing.
SDiscipline PriestMind Blast now deterministically upgrades the next Power Word: Shield into a stackable Void Shield. The catch is a roughly 30% cut to Void Shield absorption on the latest PTR pass.
AMistweaver MonkScales extremely well into stacked pulls, and a Rising Sun Kick focused build turns priority damage directly into healing. Tier set still needs final tuning.
ARestoration DruidSwiftmend gets a straight healing buff and Innervate is redesigned to restore 25% of max mana over 8 seconds. Still weak if a target has zero HoTs up when damage lands.
BPreservation EvokerDream Breath‘s periodic healing rose substantially and its Essence Burst and Living Flame loop is the spec’s biggest source of upside, but Echo’s setup cost still makes it punishing in chaotic pugs.
BHoly PaladinReal Holy Shock buffs and stronger Infusion of Light value make it far less fragile than earlier builds, but its AoE healing gap against Shaman or Monk remains.
CHoly PriestIts panic buttons are also its baseline rotation, which leaves nothing in reserve, and it remains one of the most mana hungry specs in the game.

Tank Tier List: Season 2 PTR

TierSpecPTR Notes
SProtection PaladinDecoupled from Avenging Wrath, with the crit bonus dropped to 10% but Sentinel’s baseline duration extended to 20 seconds. Word of Glory now functions as a real emergency heal instead of a Holy Power dump nobody used.
SVengeance Demon HunterChaos Brand and a high key pushing ceiling keep it on top, though its mitigation still swings hard on Voidfall and Metamorphosis proc luck.
SProtection WarriorThe biggest mover of the patch. Revenge now procs from auto attacks as well as dodges and parries, fixing years of rage starvation outright.
ABlood Death KnightDeath Strike now builds toward a Marrowrend strength window through a genuinely reworked tier set loop, not a passive stat bump. Self sustain remains excellent for pugs.
ABrewmaster MonkSteady and familiar. The global health increase pairs well with Stagger, though large pulls can still swing hard if Purifying Brew timing slips.
BGuardian DruidTook the hardest hit of the patch. Lunation changed from a per cast cooldown reduction on Lunar Beam to a flat 20 second reduction, killing the old chain uptime playstyle entirely.

WoW Midnight PvP Season 2: What Changes

Unlike PvE, WoW Midnight PvP Season 2 is not chasing spec by spec reworks. Blizzard went after the systems that decide how every fight feels.

  • Diminishing returns now reset after 20 seconds instead of 16, and consecutive crowd control now grants immunity after two hits instead of three.
  • Automatically applied movement slows are getting weaker across the board, with many 70% slows dropping to 50% and many 50% slows dropping to 30%.
  • Battleground healing, including Battleground Blitz, drops 20% across the board.
  • Scatter Shot returns as a usable PvP talent for every Hunter spec, restoring lost utility from earlier seasons.
  • Arena Training Grounds now let players queue against bots for practice before touching rated matches.

Gear scaling for Season 2 sits at item level 324 for Honor and War Mode gear and item level 337 for Conquest gear. The Season 2 Gladiator mount is the Venomous Gladiator’s Goredrake, and the seasonal Vicious track ends in the Vicious Lightbloom Boar.

Bottom Line

Curse of Ula’tek has a real raid, a real new dungeon, a real global damage squish, and PTR tuning specific enough to fill every table above with actual numbers. What it does not have is a finished season, because the season that would produce one has not opened. Treat every tier here as this week’s PTR snapshot, not gospel, and expect at least a few of these rows to be wrong by the time Season 2 actually opens on August 18.

What’s the best tank in WoW Midnight 12.1 PTR testing?

Protection Paladin, Vengeance Demon Hunter, and Protection Warrior currently sit in S tier per PTR rankings.

What’s the safest healer for Mythic+ pugs in Patch 12.1?

Restoration Shaman, thanks to automatic totem healing and Wind Shear, one of the best healer interrupts available.

Which DPS specs got the biggest PTR buffs?

Arcane Mage, Elemental Shaman, Devastation Evoker, and Demonology Warlock all received major PTR damage increases.

Will these tier list rankings change before Season 2 launches?
